Kary was my favorite because she's a badass fiery snake-lady.
None of them seemed really hard, but there was always the chance Lich would NUKE you and that sucked.

Tiamat was always my favorite for reason of being a giant multi-headed dragon. >That said, I can't say I remember ever finding any of them that hard; I generally found getting to the fiends more difficult than defeating them as a kid.

Lich became my favorite as time went on otherwise I would have said Tiamat but Tiamat loses a few points cause by the time you reach him, you're packing a god-smashing crack team of soldiers with enchanted gear so he always felt a bit underwhelming. Lich on the other hand kind of comes out of nowhere while your party is still fairly squishy.

Marilith is the one that always gave me problems, not because she herself is terribly difficult but rather getting to her is such a serious drain on your resources and the enemy encounters on the lowest parts of Mt. Gulug are pretty nasty. During the rematch battles, Kraken is probably the hardest for me cause he sticks to melee and his enhanced stats allow him to nearly one-shot your fully armored knight if the RNG lets him get lucky and it often does...
