    Default The Essentials

Alright, let's say you were in charge of coming up with some ideas for the next numbered FF game and were told to compile a list of essential elements from the series. You are only allowed ONE ELEMENT FROM EACH GAME but you are not required to take one from every game if you don't want to or can't. You can say characters or stories but you must explain your answer and it can't be simply because "I like them". So what do you feel are the essential elements that each FF gives?

I don't know about 'essential', but I will go with things I really liked.

FF1 - have random battles be part of the difficulty and not just filler
FF3 - different vehicles to unlock the world in stages while allowing for open world
FF4 - Epic story where even the main characters don't feel safe
    FF5 - Multiple worlds/ world map changes
    FF6 - Ensemble cast
    FF7 - Good balance between storytelling/gameplay
FFT - the everyone can learn everything, but only have a few things active
FF9 - lots of unknown / unexplored regions of the world
FF10 - turn based system based on character speed
