Thread: Favorite Disc?

    Default Favorite Disc?

It's part of the schizo tone of this game that when you get to Disk 3, you look back at Disk 1, and say "what happened?"

Even if Disk 3 was all good, it's so very different from Disk 1 in...every way. Even the pretense at the mercenary/military Garden thing has completely fallen apart. That happened at the start of Disk 2 though with Squall and them no longer taking mission assignments which was a good chunk of Disk 1.

Anyway...I guess my favorite Disk might be 1? 2? It's hard to say. It's not 3 or 4.

Third disc for sure. Airship! Doing whatever you want!

Incidentally, the second disc is my least favorite xD

This is kind of tough for me, on the one hand, my favorite scene in the game is in the second disc but so is a lot of the bad writing... I guess I will go with the first disc as well the game starts out really strong and the pacing is pretty good.

I appreciate this game for its unapologetic insanity. Every time I see a complaint or a criticism aimed at it demanding logic, I just imagine the game laughing like The Joker. That said, I'm gonna have to go with Disc One. It was just solid all around, although I do like the mobile Garden in Disc Two.

You don't visit Esthar until Disc Three.

    FH is disc 2, I believe. Am I wrong? I think it's disc 2.

I should have elaborated - disc 3 has the space scene, which is my favorite, so that's why I love it.

My mom makes fun of the space scene like there's no tomorrow.

Hmm... it seems my favorite is the last half of disc 2 and the first half of disc 1. Can... can that be a disc

Overall I would say disc 2, I just hated the prison.

/is playing the game currently. Can't remember what happens when

    Squall didn't go "I WUV U" until Disk 3.
The party wasn't just randomly shot into space until Disk 3.

All the bad writing is on Disk 3.

    Well...most of it.

It's Disc Two. Esthar just wasn't actually shown until Disc Three.

The scene on the Ragnarok is very sweet and touching and all that rot, I'll admit.

Disc 2 is where we get the poorly executed amnesia twist, the first hint of Ultimecia, the entire NORG scenario that was irrelevant and watching the school become a ship cause someone thought it would be "cool". The rot starts in Disc 2, it just get's worse from there. coffee5.gif

It also had the Garden wars. Which were just epic enough to forget all of that nonsense.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

I consider NORG a high point of Disk 2.

    Just Saiyan.

    Let's break this trout down.

    Disk 1
    Pros:
    Abundance of Seifer
    Dollet landing
    Sorceress Assassination build-up

    Cons:
Quistis abandoning her post and forcing us into a Sewer Level

    Disk 2
    Pros:
    Garden Civil War/NORG
    Balamb vs. Galbadia
    FH Concert (? maybe)
Final confrontation with Seifer and Edea

    Cons:
    D-District Prison
    Orphanage Reveal
NORG Subplot going nowhere even when you visit Shumi Village
    The Garden controlling like ass
    Lack of Seifer
    Rinoa's father being completely ignored

    Disk 3
    Pros:
    Ragnarok Scene
    The Ragnarok itself
    ....

    Cons:
Seifer's character receiving no closure or proper resolution
MONSTERS FALL FROM DA MOON DIDN'T YOU LEARN THIS IN HISTORY CLASS APPARENTLY NOT
Laguna's defeat of Adel being tucked away in an optional flashback. Actually, I think Disk 3 had all the worst Laguna flashbacks.
Again, Rinoa's complicated relationship with her father being forgotten about completely
