    Default Carrie

I watched the remake of Carrie yesterday starring Chloe Grace Moretz. It was... depressing as all hell. I should have known it would be, though, since it's based on a Steven King novel and all of his stories are depressing and have bad endings that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Chloe was fantastic in it. I never saw the original movie or read the book so I can't compare, but what I saw left me feeling sorry for Carrie and dreading the inevitable bucket of pig's blood. I also enjoyed watching those high school girls die WAY too much.

I've not seen it, but I hear it is pretty much a scene-for-scene remake of the original movie, and not even a good scene-for-scene remake.

Ah well. I'll catch it one day.

Seen it. Also saw E.D. remake with Emma Stone. Left a bad taste in my mouth so I was kind of wary of this film going in. But it was awesome as the original. I kind of feel CGM did a better job than Sissy Spacek translating the thrill of coming into her power to the screen. Of course, we've had a lot more practice in recent years with all of the comics superhero movies and the found footage film Chronicle. While Evil Dead left room at the end for a sequel, Carrie is clearly dead, but this reiteration opened me to accept The Rage: Carrie 2 as acceptable in canon.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
