Space Sim Games

So starting with Elite the space sim/space fighter game has been basically the best genre. And in this thread we're going to talk about them all, from Elite to FreeSpace to Freelancer to the upcoming ones like Star Citizen and Kinetic Void.

(Of course, there's always the issue that the reason the genre all but died for 15 years is because once you make FreeSpace 2 there's no point making anything else in the genre.)

What are your favorite space flight games and what are you looking forward to?

FTL is smurfing phenomenal. Very original and creative game. You always end up with a story or two to tell but it's not the most forgiving of games... it's the hope that kills you.

Ah yes, FTL is pretty amazing, I spent a lot of time with it and I need to go back to it now that it has new content!

Man I tell you what Elite style games are freaking amazing. I want more.

And freaking FTL Never have I played a game that was so frustrating and so addicting at the same time. I hated it but I could not stop playing it.
