My dad likes to play poker and we went to a casino for his stag do. I lost at poker pretty hard because I can't bluff against more experienced players.

Anyway, story is the first thing I hear when we walked in was that the best man had bet and lost £1000. On his last gamble, he won £2000. Despite this insane luck, he ended up losing it all again and was again down £1000. This was in the span of 30 minutes.

I dont understand why you are willing to do something like that. I would have quit when I was £1000 up and took it easy for the rest of the night, instead of blowing it all again.

Occasionally. I only ever do it socially with friends and will always set myself a losing limit (usually $200-300).
I like Baccarat, Roulette, Blackjack and Pontoon. But not Double Zero Roulette - that blows.
There was also a short-lived game in my local casino called Lucky Draw Baccarat that basically combined Baccarat with Blackjack and it was awesome. I'm kinda glad they took it away because I drifted pretty close to addiction with that one. =)

I also don't mind sports betting. Keeps the game interesting.

I really don't like gambling. The odds are not in your favour which to me makes it pointless on every occasion. The only time I think it could be seen as justifiable is when you're playing against other people on a "level playing field" if you like. That way the odds are even for everyone and it comes down to how talented you are. I know my stepbrother has earned a lot of money through online poker.

This is where the fun in sports betting lies. You can find value in a market when a bookmaker prices up something at odds longer than what you believe the actual odds should be. I'll give an example: a few seasons ago Bet365 had Gylfi Sigurdsson to score twice vs Fulham at 50-1. Absolutely ridiculous odds considering he was an attacking midfielder who had been banging them in in the last few games, and I would have priced it at 15-20/1. Stuck a fiver on and he duly scored twice in the first half. Easiest 250 quid I ever made.

I helped my parents win $40 at Cache Creek. What I did was to put a coin away every time I won rather than betting everything I had. So my parents thought I was losing everything and would hand me an extra coin so we could all experience the "fun of gambling." We stopped playing when my parents had reached the allotted $200 limit we had set for ourselves, the total payout I got from the tables was $240, thus we "won $40".

I've also played Slots and other weird gambling arcades and bingo. I don't like to gamble. I don't feel the rush of winning on luck. I prefer to know that I'm going to win rather than risk losing.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

I've eaten at buffets in casinos if that counts for anything. Depending on the casino, the food can be a gamble.

Gambling seems interesting and fun, but I've never tried it. I really want to okay Blackjack. I would just want to play for fun not money, but I suppose then it wouldn't be gambling.
