    My internet won't load the most recent update. ;_;

But regardless, my vote would be with you-know-who, but Rin is probably going to win out, so might as well go with the winners.

Try quoting the post, then previewing it.

With one clear vote, one implicit vote, and one "okay", it seems like Rin is going to win. Good.

Either way, we still have a lot of the General Path to go through before it branches off. So let's continue!

    Chapter 1, Part 9
So Rin learned two new pitches, and now baseball practice is over. Riki and Kud take this opportunity to talk to Rin about the room sharing thing.

Music for this part: Exotic Toybox

They ask her a bit about how things work, but it turns out that asking the most unsociable girl in the school about it isn't the best idea.

Thanks for the tip, Rin. Wouldn't have ever thought to do that.

    Just cats. That's it.

Let's go meet with the dorm head, shall we?

Oh. Well now I just feel silly, going to all this trouble.

A little anecdote, the dorm head is a wonderful character in the anime. Why? Because she has more screentime during the show's opening than during the actual show. And she smiles and waves at the screen during the opening, like she's an actually important character.

The name she's known under in other parts of Little Busters is "A-chan", but I've just gotten used to calling her "Filler", myself.

Whoa! A character with a portrait! She's only on-screen for less than a second, but that's enough to take note of her scary eyes.

So all we need to do is find someone who's willing to share a room? That should be simple enough.

Looks like Kud got some more packages and is once again struggling to get them inside her room.

Kud's prowess in English is truly unique.

Unique. That's all I can say.

Even with all-English text and lack of voices you can still notice when she stops trying to speak English and talks in Japanese again, don't you?

She seems to be capable of transporting the goods herself, and with her being her she declines Riki's help. Oh well.

Music for this part: Heroic Battle

Let's see, can Komari get her revenge?

    smurf I'm screwed.

I'm not exactly climbing the ranks, am I. Oh well, I will be the ruler someday.

Yes, that's what I was waiting for!

Turns out laundry pegs make for quite good weapons. I'll keep that in mind.

    Battle of the titans, eh?

Pretty fair weapons, although since Kengo already had the sticky tape once, he has a bit of an advantage since he knows how to use it already.

Kengo won quite handily. The tape paralyzed Masato quite a few times, unlucky guy.

    Oh that's cold.

    Current standings:

We're back in the dorms and it's time for Rin to start her member recruitment mission for the night.

Music for this part: Mission Possible

Soon enough, a little problem arises.

Hmm, how could this have happened?

Do you think she'll cooperate as it is?

    Of course not.

    Evil, Kengo. Evil.

    Yeah, I did too.

    ...sure. That sounds so plausible.

    Whatever...

Really, how can you not love these two siblings?

    That's normal.

Maybe she's up for the task after all.

Yup, that's a voice we know very well. It happens to be Haruka's.

I'm guessing she almost said "spy activities" or something like that.

    Yay!

The (SHAKA SHAKA) in the text is just visual representation of the sound of shaking a tambourine, by the way.

Now that's another voice we know ALL TOO WELL.

she failed to pronounce her own name.

    Aw, poor Sasami.

Naturally, it cannot end without a battle.

The tambourine gives +30 to Agility. Not particularly useful, but you get it here every time you play this game, so it can be used for trading her something good, if you want to make Rin a stronger fighter.

Yeah, can't beat them anymore. RPG rules state that fighting the same enemy in a later part of them plot has them be inexplicably stronger, so nothing we can do about that.

    May 18th

Might as well go a bit further. Because things are about to get a little creepy.

    All is quiet...

Only one person would say that...

Don't keep us in suspense. Out with it.

    Music for this part: Parhelion

...oh. Oh. That... is not good. In multiple ways.

Priorities I see. That's pretty nice of you.

So they really are going to be making all the food. Rin is growing more and more sympathetic.

    Roger, Rin-sama.

Music for this part: Mission Possible

    Wonderful timing.

No hesitation in their helpfulness. Enviable.

What are you talking about? Look at the screen, there are MORE people here than before.

Mission Complete! ...or something like that.

    Happy times.

    Deal with it.

Enough to buy a little bit of breakfast, isn't it? Be happy, you did something good.

    Yeah... this could be bad.

Music for this part: Ring Ring Ring!

I do too. I'm afraid we can't be so trusting towards our mysterious task giver anymore.

Yeah, Riki said exactly what I thought. Let's hope for the best...

I don't know whether to be relieved or more scared.

I guess we'll be making lunch and dinner as well.

I can't put my finger on it, but it feels weird. How did this happen? Assuming the letter really predicted this scenario, how did they know? Or did the letter refer to something else entirely?

    Alright.

Turns out break is already pretty much over so Kud's request had to wait until next break.

Music for this part: Girls at 4 P.M.

    Wait, who said that?

What the smurf? How did you get here? Through the window?

Riki is not even surprised. I guess this sort of thing is daily routine with Kyousuke.

Alright, so unless there's a particular demand for a certain person, I think I'll pick whosever route I'm currently doing. Is that fine?

So that's it for today. Next time we'll be serving lunch and hopefully dinner too, I guess. I'll try to move this Let's Play along more quickly for now, as I will most likely be forced to put it on hiatus for a while on July 17th. I'll be gone for a week, back for two days, then gone for another two weeks. I'm not sure if I will have any opportunity to continue the LP while I'm gone.

    Chapter 1, Part 10

Last time we stopped right as Kud asked us who should be her roommate. Since it's most likely going to be Rin whose path we go through first, I picked her.

Music for this part: Girls at 4 P.M.

I have my doubt too... but we'll see if it works out.

I can so see that. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

How many times have we had this choice by now? I watched for a while.

Rin looks so happy playing with her cats.

Yeah, it might be nice to just let her be...

Yep, that's EXACTLY what I meant.

Honestly, having someone scream "WAFU!" directly behind you when you think you're alone would be pretty damn scary.

So Riki has to help the two communicate...

YAY! Achievement! They'll have a great time living together, now won't they?

Yeah can't say I'm optimistic about this. Let's just give up.

That is a wonderful idea, Rin. I wonder why I didn't think of that... oh wait...

    Well...

Kud looks so down. But it really can't be helped, can it.

Well I'd know one way to have them get to know each other better. Soon enough, soon enough...

    Yeah, no kidding. Those eyes.

Well nice to see she still has her optimism intact. I guess we'll continue looking later.

Time to make lunch, is it?

Music for this part: Ring Ring Ring!

Rin, you better come up with a good idea.

I see Rin hasn't quite improved her managing skills.

    Sounds like a feasible solution.

Now now Masato. It's Rin. Be more surprised.

Kyousuke-sama agrees so there're no ifs or buts about it.

So we decide on a Stir Fry, an Onigiri Dish and a Curry Dish. Seems simple enough.

    Preparing food, preparing food...

    Alright then.

Ah smurf. I don't like this minigame. Mostly because when I first played it, it was over before I even scored a single point. If you spend too long doing nothing, the game just ends, and since I had no idea what I was doing, it ended just about instantly.

I couldn't really spare the time to take screenshots during the minigame because time is short. Let me try to describe it: you have four trays at a time and they constantly have ingredients put on them (about three per second). You have to wait until a dish is identical to one of the three meals you're preparing, then click on it.

The catch is that Masato, Kengo, Rin and Kyousuke apparently have no idea when to stop because if you don't click on a ready meal IMMEDIATLY they screw it up. So in the end I basically just go round clicking all the trays in some kind of rhythm and mostly hope for the best. With a bit of practice you can even do well.

I got 31 points which isn't that bad.

I got a Mission Clear! so it can't have been too bad.

Really? You're tired so you're gonna wander around getting into random fights? I *guess* it helps against fatigue.

Music for this part: Heroic Battle

Don't fight IN the cafeteria, you idiots! People are eating here - and food YOU made no less!

Oh hey, I beat Kyousuke. Now let's hope none of the students here slip on the puddles of soap I made...

So since I fought Kyousuke it's most likely, or rather guaranteed that everyone else fights as well.

    Dat battle cry.

Rin brushed Komari's teeth SO HARD she lost consciousness.

Of course the baka futari must fight as well.

Our first match ends by timeout. Since Masato's only means of attack was to entangle Kengo in the net and watch him fall down... it took a while. Too long, it turns out.

Enough wandering. Riki, don't you want to eat something?

    Mio takes priority, naturally.

Music for this part: Approaching Light

Pretty sure she wasn't carrying a lunchbox last time.

    ...you lost me.

Yeah I was wondering about that. Does it still need a compress now?

    Eh, what?

    Gah, stop it Mio.

You have a tough sense of humor...

Note to self: do not get caught in Mio's pace. She can be difficult.

Oh. Well. Under different circumstances I'd compliment your aiming skills.

Mio has such a nice vocabulary.

She sure seems like someone who really appreciates that.

If you pick "Back to the cafeteria" here you are locked out of Mio's route. It also locks away a couple of interesting Mio scenes in the next few days, so I'll pick "Keep staying here".

She looks so sad. Maybe she realized the reason Riki hasn't had any lunch yet was because he was bringing her a compress.

Ah, well that's nice of you.

    ...

...that's not exactly what I had in mind. Hmmm...

    Nice one, Riki.

Oh, so she was feeding birds. That's why she said 'I'm alone now because you've come here'.

    Mmmm... bread crusts...

    I'm definitely not denying it.

She sure likes her parasol. It kinda fits her.

I must say, Mio's Theme is one of my favorite character themes in this game. It's quite beautiful.

Ah right, there was that. Let's continue, then.

They get tired pretty damn quickly apparently. It was lunch break just now.

Music for this part: Tick Tock Routine

Oh wow. So much money. For reference's sake, the exchange rate between Yen and Dollar is about 100 Yen to 1 Dollar. So this is about $5.

Kud... yuu nido too raan Engurishu.

    But thanks.

    Cafe olé? Is that Spanish?

It took me quite long to understand what that's supposed to mean.

Maybe he's realizing that he's surrounded by girls with extremishly colored hair.

    I guess it might be.

    Whatever there was to understand.

A potential roommate? Someone we know? Or just some random girl?

Doesn't seem to be anyone we know.

Well don't keep me in suspense, I want to know what's going on!

(This is a totally inconsequential choice as far as I know)

    Heh, I see.

She doesn't seem to share your opinion...

    Let's look around some more.

    I doubt they would, honestly.

Do I get to choose again?

    You only asked one person.

Hmm. I guess I don't get to choose again. Pity...

    Thanks but no thanks.

Whoa, Kud needs to stop surprising people like that.

There is quite a bit of Masato x Kud fandom. As for me... no thanks.

Hmm, I don't like wandering if it skips scenes, and I'm not too fond of the idea of trying Masato's homemade drink, so... "Go buy juice" it is!

    Oh, it's Komari.

Music for this part: Magic Ensemble

Nothing out of the ordinary. Her optimism remains unbroken.

It's like her mood directly corrolates to the weather.

Is this a running theme? Characters not wanting time to pass?

Yeah, that's what I thought as well. And that smile. It's so bright.

    Yeah that one.

    "Spiral of Happiness", eh?

    Wait, "Teacher"?

There are teachers in this game?

"Wander". Sure. 'Sorry sensei, but I feel like going around campus fighting my friends right now.'

There's no real reason to refuse, so I just picked "Take on the task".

How is having two people going to make this any quicker?

    Whatever...

    Wait, Haruka said that?

Music for this part: Melancholy of a Noisy Girl

Oh geez, what's she up to this time?

    Music for this part:

I can see these two being friends. Though why does she always come over to our class, anyways?

    Haru-chan is a nice nickname, isn't it?

Filler seems to be a more strict person that first glance shows. Though then again I can see Haruka making trouble for anyone.

    Sure you did.

You want to use the copy machine?

Pretty sure Haruka doesn't care one bit about that. But there's something else that seems to bother her.

    Oh.

Don't give her the teacher's card. Just don't.

    Hell no.

Oh. Well I guess I can lend that.

Again, how does having two people make this any faster?

That's... quite an amount to be sure.

    Really now? How unexpected!

    Flawless reaction.

Yeah no, I doubt this notification will have even the slightest effect.

Kay, see ya. Stay out of trouble. (Who am I kidding?)

    Going back it is.

Such good friends. Cleaning up instruments in the science classroom sounds like a hassle.

My god. It really is impossible for her to stay out of trouble.

What, she played a prank on Masato again?

    More like, what DID happen?

That "TM" is surely meant to be a star symbol. Even so, that hardly seems that bad.

She also sure smiles brightly. But it's different from Komari's smile... kinda.

    Huh.

Words to live by. You spoil, you get capital punishment.

See what I mean about her smile? But wait. How would she know who the perpetrator is?

    So much for spoilers.

    She sure enjoys the spotlight.

*sigh* this might take a while.

    Hmm? What's going on?

    Music for this part: Parhelion

"School Disciplinary Committee"? And it's run by students? Are you out of your mind?

    .....

    *exhales*

Wow. Scary. So the girl we saw before was the, uh, head of the disciplinary committee? That could spell trouble.

Hmm? I guess Haruka has a lot of trouble with these people. Still, that's quite an unusual expression.

    Hmm... I wonder.

So that's it for now. Next time we'll probably get to the end of May 18th, unless there's some huge event I forgot about. Let's see if we get a new team member, or if we can find out what's with this disciplinary committee girl.

*phew* longest part so far. I didn't even know there was a 310 image limit on posts.

    310? I'm limited at 25!
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

There's no such limit with [IMG] tags. Well, it goes up to 310 anyways.

    Chapter 1, Part 11

Alright, so last time we saw the head of the disciplinary committee, a girl with really scary eyes. Now let's continue, and maybe finish up, searching for a roommate for Kud.

Music for this part: Showing Signs of a Mystery

Hmm, is there nothing more we could do?

Oh well, I guess not for now.

Whoa! It's her! What's she doing here?

...really Riki? Don't remember that encounter two minutes ago?

Anyways, did she come here for Kud or what?

She just never changes her expression. It's a little creepy.

    Yeah why are you here?

Oh wait. I have my doubts about where this is going...

I find it hard to read her expression. It feels condescending.

Well you don't waste any time, do you?

Plus, didn't you kind of one-sidedly decide this?

    What is with this girl?

Is that her sense of humor? I somehow feel like it's really not... although she's probably not being serious anyways.

    Okay I'm getting annoyed.

    Seriously. What the hell.

    Are you famous or something?

Kanata, huh. Japan really is the king of puns. I'd talk a little about her character but I think I'll let the LP speak for itself.

That's right, what does Kud think about all this?

Glad to be of one mind here Riki. If that's what they decided, that's okay. There's no real reason to assume this wouldn't work out, anyways.

So let's get over to baseball practice... but on the way there, Riki stops in the courtyard.

She's pretty much always here, isn't she?

Music for this part: Approaching Light

She may always be here, but she's always in her own little world.

    Hmm?

    That's nice of you.

I can empathize with that. I have some certain storylines that I also care about very, very much... although they don't come in book form.

Hmm, I see. Sounds quite beautiful.

    This suddenly got quite personal.

    Yeah...

    ...

    "How troublesome", eh?

    See ya.

Alright, that was a nice encounter. Let's head off to practice for real this time.

Music for this part: Day Game

    And so it begins again...

Huh? I hit a cat (completely by accident of course) and Rin threw a really weird ball at me.

    Yeah, it curved.

Of course it is, Kyousuke. Of course it is.

So basically Rin can, from now on, learn new pitches if she gets mad. I think one per practice session is the maximum.

Or to put it in a less friendly way, the game just gave you a reason to hit cats during baseball practice. Don't worry, you can try not hitting them all you want. You will hit them, inadvertedly.

    Case in point...

Sorry, Rin. I swear I'm not trying to hit them.

    So let's take a break.

    Whose voice could that be...?

    Oh.

Music for this part: Heart-Colored Capriccio

How nice of you to come visit us.

    Heh, you want in?

    Gladly.

    You're just so killable.

    Kurugaya is so quotable.

Really now, Riki, what's the problem?

Well this is a Key visual novel, and we started out with 4 guys - 1 girl. Gotta get that ratio fixed somehow. Clannad had a 2 guys - 8 girls ratio.

    Seaweed? Gee thanks.

    Whatever...

    Oh this'll be great.

Hmm, now I wonder who people gather around. Thinking about it, it's like the guys gather round Kyousuke while the girls gather round Riki.

    Oh well, it hardly matters.

    Why am I not surprised?

A typical Kyousuke tryout I see. Well that's fine with me. Kurugaya is a great addition to our team.

Oho, this might actually be interesting. Kurugaya is strong.

    What the hell!?

Oh well smurf you. That means Kurugaya is my next opponent. Meh.

    "Yui-chan"? Oh I see.

Never been called that way, have you, Kurugaya?

She doesn't even begin to imagine that she could be the one referred to.

    Oh don't look so shocked.

    Kurugaya-chan sounds even stranger.

    Wait, what?

Music for this part: Heroic Battle

Well this is certainly going to be a unique battle.

This is a wonderful battle, isn't it?

A battle of wits. Or whatever this was.

Music for this part: Tick Tock Routine

    Rin's turn for what? First-name-calling?

Oh yes. She sure is. This is going to be troublesome.

    ...

    Oh. Way to go, Kurugaya!

What are you talking about, Riki? This was obvious to happen.

Okay, there is no way Rin can mess this one up.

I stand corrected. Who is Komada, anyways?

*sigh* this is going to be complicated. Fortunately, Kurugaya thought of something.

    Please, Rin.

    Annnnd...

    ...puh.

I guess it just can't be helped, can it? But she can't stay this way either. Gotta be some way to ease her into this...

    Hmm, good thinking.

That worked better than I'd expected. (Though what the hell, "Kurukuruje-"?)

A "splendid slide, head first"? Well isn't that just a beautiful way of putting it.

    Huh. Nice thinking there, Kurugaya.

We're not quite a team yet, but I'm sure we'll be good.

As you can see, Kurugaya joins us on the fields. If you hit the ball close enough to her, she literally teleports right over to it, catches it, and throws it back. She's mostly immobile and just stands around, though, so this isn't quite that simple.

Anyways... take a guess what happened a bunch of times.

So~orry Rin-chan. She's still quite no-con so her balls come flying towards me every now and then, but they can be dodged. She still hit me once. Her Raging Meow Balls and Purrves aren't that easy to hit, but with a bit of practice it's quite manageable.

    Good sweat.

    Oh, Kengo? What's up?

    Music for this part: Race

    Ah, right.

I'm sure they're willing to help.

Yeah, Rin is quite driven in these situations, isn't she?

    Don't worry about it.

That's not much time, is it...

Komari being left behind a bit. But she's glad to help, of course. As always.

    Curry, huh.

Oh right. That must've been what it was for. Well damn.

It does seem like a dire situation.

    !!

This should take care of some problems at least.

Riki comments that she still looks a bit ill, so she will just help with organizational issues. That's fine, we have enough people to take care of the practical part ourselves.

    Sounds good.

    Ah. Everything goes quiet.

    ...

That's it for now. I'll be leaving first thing in the morning on the 17th, and I doubt I will have much opportunity to work on the Let's Play for the week I'm gone, so don't expect any updates, sorry. I might be able to get one part done, but only if my vacation ends up being boring, so that would not be a good sign ^^

I assume it will be quite to your liking. After all, with your assumed implicit vote for Rin, she won the vote for first path to go through.

I think I will be able to get Part 12 out before the 26th. After that until the 9th of August, I really have no idea if I could get anything done.

It seems like there is a lot of effort that goes into these. I'm liking Kud in the visual novel so far (at chapter 9) and Mio/Komari still aren't working for me here. I'm enjoying how closely the anime is following so far.

This is still my favourite scene though, despite the Komari hate.

Edit - Spent like 2 hours catching up from Chapter 6-10. That'll teach me to fall behind.

Why thank you, Mr. Shauna. Komari is my least favorite heroine, but I still like her. IMO her character route was way too early in the anime, before you could even get to know her. We'll get there eventually. That's also where I can get more into why I really prefer the visual novel over the anime.

I do like Mio though. She has that incredibly calming aura. Plus, her character themes is one of my favorites.

    Chapter 1, Part 12

So what exactly did we end on last time? A black screen. Or shall we say, a narcolespy attack.

Music for this part: Two Sugars

Narcolepsy is a scary illness for sure. Lucky for Riki he's got people he can rely on.

    That's good to hear.

Honestly, it must be pretty nice to not feel the need to apologize for it. A mutual understanding of need and responsibility that is wordlessly accepted.

I could see him being one to just wait patiently.

    Thanks, Masato.

This view makes me wonder... how long was Riki asleep?

Music for this part: Exotic Toybox

Not such a rare sight, is it?

    Hmm, hmm. I wonder.

Now why was it this obvious?

    ...ooookay. Whatever you say.

    "Best friends"?

Sadly, my Russian is no longer good enough for me to be able to translate белка or стрелка anymore.

The disciplinary committee, huh? I guess that means they're close to Kanata as well. I guess having her as Kud's roommate wasn't a bad idea after all.

They seem so friendly together. Had Rin gotten over her shyness I'm sure they'd have been fine roommates.

Either way, why were they out here together in the first place?

Duty-bound Rin can get over her shyness quite quickly, can't she?

    Do tell.

    That seems simple.

Heh. Neat little trick. Surprised Rin didn't know about it.

Let me guess. "Shii yuu reita"?

    Called it.

Kinda reminds me of Spice and Wolf. Regardless, the two of them seem like they could be really good friends.

Riki goes to get some food and we skip ahead to nightfall. Take a guess what's up.

Music for this part: My Brave Smile

    That sounds like Kyousuke alright.

    Any surprises here?

"Plenty of girls on the team"? Oh you don't even know.

Oho? I wonder what he's up to now.

    So, what's up?

What the smurf? That's a rather drastic change in objective.

    That was shot down quickly.

    Time for some Kyousukesque manipulation.

    Devious, Kyousuke.

Rin is so easy to ma-

Guess it won't be that easy after all.

    *sigh*

Gosh. Rin really is so easy to manipulate. Then again, I guess it just means she'll do anything for her cats' sake.

I picked "Watch calmly". This is Kyousuke we're talking about.

Music for this part: Mission Possible

I swear if Rin takes Dorj with her and it just flattens that monster that would be the greatest thing ever.

    I think she's forgotten we're here.

Really. It's almost as if he had planned this from the start.

    Wait, really!?

So there just casually happens to be a strange mysterious creature roaming around the school for no real reason, and nobody knows or cares about it. It's just there because why not.

I love this visual novel so much.

They're just kinda rolling with it, eh?

That's a good point. Kyousuke does have more planning and reasoning behind his plans than it seems at first.

So much for help from the cats.

It's flying? Huh. This is getting stranger and stranger.

And with that, it doesn't take too long until...

Music for this part: Heroic Battle

    What is that thing?

As you can see, Rin as she is now doesn't really have much of a chance against this thing. It wasn't even close in the slightest.

Meh. Too bad. It'll probably be too hard until Chapter 3 or 4.

    Damn man. Kengo is serious.

She seems fine. Somehow she didn't come to harm at all, apparently.

Okay, wait. How are we supposed to hear or see Kengo's battle, much less know it even happens? The mic was attached to Rin, was it not?

...I give up. Either Kyousuke had literally been planning to fight the lifeform, have Rin lose and then know that Kengo would fight it in her place...

Or he's just the kind of guy who likes installing mics on his friends for the lulz.

    It's probably the latter.

Similarly to how Rin got destroyed in her battle, Kengo just utterly destroys the lifeform.

Shoulda volunteered to fight it yourself, Masato.

And that's it for the night. And for today as well, I'll be leaving for England tomorrow noon, meaning I won't be able to continue this Let's Play for a while. After that, however, I will have lots of free time so I'll try my best to update frequently. Next time will be May 19th with more member hunting. See you then.

Well that was a longer hiatus than I'd expected. Time to get back and continue!

    Chapter 1, Part 13

So last time we stopped at nightfall after Kengo had just beaten a demonic eagle of sorts.

Music for this part: Waking Up In The Morning

Looks like some of Kyousuke's unique motivational skills will be required.

    It's a trap.

Yaaay, we get to do more member hunting. Nice going, Riki. Maybe someone else would be nice.

There should've been a choice to say "Rin, I love you" instead.

That's the look I was waiting for.

Sorry Masato, the others aren't quite as stupid.

Shoulda tried letting Riki say it.

*sigh* oh well. Might be able to recruit someone.

    Ah, just another day.

Music for this part: Girls at 4:30 P.M.

    G'morning Kud.

Hiya Haruka, careless as ever I see.

    ... no comment.

You should know that common sense is not common.

Okay this picture is glorious. Kud is not amused.

    I know, right?

That's a really creepy look you know...

    She's Yui-chan, remember?

Oh. Well, it's not like she needs to be here...

    Buuuurn.

    This won't go well.

I sincerely question your definition of "perfect".

This would be even better if I had a way to record her voice.

Oh hi there Kurugaya. Didn't see you there.

    She sure can be.

    Hey now...

    Oh come on.

    Wouldn't that be a sadist?

What the smurf are YOU talking about!?

    No kidding.

I still like her. Haruka's great.

Music for this part: Approaching Light

That's a legitimate question. Have you ever had that happen to you, where you suddenly noticed the presence of someone who never really stands out, and you notice that you never really speak to them, like, ever? And that it's probably the same for almost everyone else in class? It must be a strange realization.

...that's a horrible nickname to give someone. Why would they do that?

    ...

...at least it's a better reason than the last one. The parasol thing is rather strange.

Surely not. Maybe her shadow is even her only friend. ...that's kinda depressing to think about.

Ah yes. Since we completed that really creepy cafeteria task, we should get a new one. As usual, if you don't pick "Look for Rin" here you are locked out of Rin's route. Obviously that's not what I want to happen.

Music for this part: Ring Ring Ring!

I watched for a while. Not that it matters much. One thing I did learn in that sequence is that migi and hidari are the Japanese words for "right" and "left" respectively.

    So eventually...

Difficult instructions maybe? Either way, Riki theorizes a bit about who could be sending those letters and why.

    Sounds plausible enough.

    ...difficult instructions alright.

    Tee hee.

Going back to the task, who exactly is "2-A1" supposed to be?

Leave it to Rin to come up with a theory that goes against what she literally just said.

By the way just in case you're confused by the reasoning: the number 1 in Japanese isichi, so with the A before that she builds Eiichi, which is an actual Japanese name.

    *rolls eyes*

Apparently Riki doesn't feel like stopping her futile attempt.

    Gee, really?

    Finally.

She can hardly grasp it was something that simple.

Freaking bell. Alright, next break I guess.

True, true. Not everyone shoots four volleys in a row with a baseball.

"In trouble if you get caught"? Puh-lease. So I pick "I'm too curious".

    Uh oh.

    ...

    .....

She's attending class. What exactly does she hope to do?

    Haruka's impersonation was spot-on, actually.

    Eh. Don't open that.

    This is so Kurugaya.

    Kurugaya must be really bored.

    Really bored. Needless to say...

Is she trying to get Riki sent away?

    Really damn bored.

    So anyways, after all that...

    Looking for not-Eiichi-kun, huh?

Music for this part: Melancholy of a Noisy Girl

We run into her a lot, don't we?

Some things just don't change that easily. Oh Rin-chan.

    ...did you break them, perchance?

    Hmm, well then.

    What about Eiichi?

    Hm hm.

Aw, Rin trying to be helpful. It's cute.

    Yaaaay!

Yep, enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime chance to have Natsume Rin be sociable enough to aid you.

I still can't shake the feeling that Haruka was the one who damaged it in the first place.

    Well dang. That's too bad.

Good idea. So we go to another classroom (not that the background indicates this at all).

Ah. For a second there it sounded like she broke someone else's desk. I guess I was too quick to judge, my bad.

I never would've thought I'd hear you of all people bringing that up. She's just full of surprises.

No Eiichi this break either? Well damn.

    And this is news?

Haruka can be really thoughtful too.

That's the end of this part. I'm still playing FF XII IZJS and X/X-2 HD but I will try to update regularly. I do have an urge to get to the character arcs quickly, because those are the ones I really want to share. See you next time!

    Chapter 1, Part 14

So after that little bit of Haruka, what's up next?

Music for this part: Melancholy of a Noisy Girl

More Haruka of course. There can never be enough Haruka.

    Hm, well...

Ah well. Another case of where "Behave myself" simply skips this next scene. I'm noticing more and more that there are a lot of these choices that simply skip scenes. I guess something to be thankful for in a visual novel like this, although I'm unsure if skipping these scenes has any long-term effects or changes dialogue later on... I don't know.

Anyways, of course I pick Butt in.

I guess that's one way to interpret "recycling".

    Aw, Kud is so cute.

Poor Komari. Being used as a demonstration subject like that.

    This sounds so pointless.

At least some people seem to be excited by the idea.

Don't ask me... Haruka has an even crazier mind than Kyousuke.

Scratch that, nobody has a mind as crazy as Kyousuke's.

Either way, the sword fight commences.

    This seems a bit one-sided.

    Thank you, Sir Translator.

Huh, Mio doesn't seem quite as isolated and shadowless as people said. Or maybe Haruka is just good at involving random people. Your pick.

    Yeah, just enjoy it.

    ...now I'm worried.

If "Yui-nee" were here then this wouldn't be a contest, it would be a slaughter.

    As these things usually go.

Oh okay, I guess now the swordfight has officially commenced.

Somehow I feel like Komari is gonna get bullied a lot in this fight.

Oho! Wasn't that the move Masato used in his fight against Kurugaya?

Ouch. Sneak attack from Mio-chin. Evil.

I can see where this is going...

I knew she was gonna be bullied. *sigh*

    Indeed it is, little Kud.

    Whoa! Scary!

You are. But fortunately, being stabbed apparently means nothing in this game.

    Eh...

She always just kinda appears doesn't she?
And my god, Komari just can't catch a break, can she...

    Hmph, oh well.

Hey Rin! You feel like joining us?

Some things never change... do they.

...but there are "ways" to get around that, huh.

    So Mio explains, and...

    A sense of duty!

Fight back with all of her might, of course...!

    ...who was I kidding?

Nice interpretation. I doubt that was her intention though.

    Mio sure likes sneak-attacking.

    Cheeky, too!

    Creative, no less.

    True enough.

    ...thoughtlessly imitate her strategy?

    Yep.

    Shot down immediatly. Poor Haruka.

No kidding. I guess people usually don't expect the unsociable, introverted types to be like this.

    No surprises here.

Alright, then let's count how many times everyone got stabbed.

Yeah... well... if Rin had been here, she'd have been just as good! ...maybe.

    Wow. That's impressive.

So that wraps up this little game.

    Beats me. Any good ideas?

Sure, you do that. Meanwhile I'm going to look for members.

Alright. Same to you. Of course I'm going to be the only one interacting with people, so...

I thought about this for a while, until I realized that "In the school" yet again just skips the very next scene. So I went with "In the courtyard" instead.

If you can't already tell about what character this is going to be, the music will tell.

Music for this part: Approaching Light

I don't really know what Riki is referring to here. I thought he hadn't noticed she WAS in the classroom for all that time.

Oh, that's very thoughtful of you. Thanks, Mio.

There's no point in arguing with Mio, you know.

Ouch... okay I don't know what "ins Fettnäpfchen treten" is in English, but Mio sure just did.

I don't think you need to apologize. There was no way you could've known.

Hmm, yeah. Riki was saved from depression because Kyousuke invited him into that group. Quite a lucky turn of events for him, wasn't it. I suppose Riki just wants to give others the same chance.

Heh heh. Well, that's nostalgia for you. No matter how embarassing something may be, associate it with a good memory from long ago and it will make you happy. And if it does that, who cares if it's embarassing?

W-well, we may have gotten off on the wrong foot...

Learn something new every day I guess.

She really is thoughtful, isn't she?

Admit it, Riki. You return his feelings, don't you?

Oh don't mind me, Mio. Just shaking my head for no apparent reason.

Ok, I can see you wanting her to join a circle of friends, and I respect that Riki, but I don't think she'll be particularly good at baseball.

    But will she?

The game keeps reminding me that I need to remake the first few parts of this LP. In retrospect they have quite a different style from the rest of it and I'm not proud of how they turned out. I left out way too much. I'll probably redo them after Chapter 1 ends.

I guess we didn't know that, although now it seems natural.

    I'm not sure that's a good idea...

"Whatever it is, it doesn't matter for us! We will accept you regardless!"

But if it is a problem that she feels she cannot share, something no one else could possibly understand, that could backfire.

I guess that's good enough... hopefully.

I'd say she turned you down in the most polite manner possible. It got a little personal by the end.

    Maybe someday...

Music for this part: Melancholy of a Noisy Girl

    Gee, I wonder.

I don't know what tipped me off...

    Something like that.

    Eh...

I always imagine the Phoenix Wright "snappy" sound effect reading this line.

    Absolutely totally. You know it.

You don't need to be that impressed...

Lucky you that I happened to pass by here...

    Hmm...

    That was fast.

    ............

    Rin?

    Thank you.

Hey, now that's just being a jerk.

    Haha, you win Haruka.

The "test" that has never actually made any sense so far? Seems reasonable.

She has talent and practice in running away.

    ...

    ......

    .........

Is there any doubt as to what the next line here is going to be?

    Yeah.

Of course. Kyousuke is always serious. *cough*

I think she knows how to play catch.

    I stand corrected.

    ...I stand uncorrected, I guess.

    Hmm.

A no-con who happens to be an awesome pitcher? Yeah, I guess that would be pretty damn rare.

Feels weird hearing him being called Natsume-senpai. He doesn't seem like someone who'd appreciate such an honorific.

    Well obviously.

But Kyousuke apparently has a solution - he brings another glove.

    Fits perfectly?

Ah. Well then, this should fix that little problem.

And of course, it turns out she has a pretty good throw after all.

    Yaaaay!

Because fanfares playing is fun. And yeah, there was a fanfare playing. Just imagine the FF Victory Theme.

    Sure was.

That puts us at seven members, eight in the Battle Rankings.

    Ah, that's a nice change.

Don't know what you're talking about. Whatever.

Music for this part: Day Game

Unfortunately, I didn't get any screens from during play this time. Needless to say cats were hit, and before long Rin used a new pitch on me.

I don't either. But he surely has some sort of reason... probably.

I continue practicing. Didn't even hit any cats that time, that's a first.

At this point I have to mention, Haruka is pretty good at catching balls. It's like having a second Kyousuke around. Very handy.

Alright that does it for now. We got ourselves a new member and got some good stat boosts Next time we'll finish up May 19th and probably keep going for a bit more. See you then!

    Chapter 1, Part 15

Alright, so last time Haruka joined our merry little group, and we played some more baseball thereafter.

Ah, the two of them. They're quite good friends, aren't they?

Music for this part: Heart-Colored Capriccio

Something I cut out here: Haruka makes an apparently horrible pun which is kinda lost in translation.

    Let's ask them, then.

You don't need to be THAT shocked, Haruka.

Must've been quite a bad pun.

    That's Kurugaya for you.

    "Something appropriate"?

    Uhm...

Yeah, that's true. Kurugaya is not easy to make fun of.

That's certainly two different ways of putting it ^^

    "Anego", huh.

At this point I should probably mention that Anego is a Japanese word for "older sister", in case context didn't already make that obvious.

I guess it makes sense. Aneki, Anesan and Onee-san are also just different words for "older sister", by the way.

Must be nice to have someone you can regard as an older sister. A little philosophical, but does it make much logical sense?

    Words of wisdom from Kurugaya.

    Bye, Kurugaya. See you tomorrow.

Music for this part: Slow Curve

What, did you call her Yui-chan or something?

    Heh, that sounds neat.

    Hmm, well.

    What is it?

    That's quite a nickname.

    Because it sounds hilarious.

Calling each other by first name seem like a bit of a big deal in Japan, doesn't it?

Well you sure are making it out to be a big deal.

    ...

    .....?

You like it more than your last name, huh.

    Haruka-san. I like it.

Ah right, task, task. I almost forgot about this.

Music for this part: Ring Ring Ring!

    As always.

Alright, let's hope our hunch was correct.

Why do I get the feeling this is not going to go so well?

She really does sound like a villain, doesn't she ^^

    Well it's fine.

From an outsider's perspective, it's kinda cute.

    Maybe.

Alright let's do it at Rin's pace. So we go to a more quiet place.

    Bullseye!

Haa, alright so we have the right guy. Now all that's left is for Rin to understand what lovesickness is.

    Sounds lovesick enough.

    Could that be Kurugaya?

    Ouch.

*sigh* What a troublesome task this is turning out to be.

But Rin makes it all good.

    Oh.

    Oh.

    Wonderful.

Yeah I expected a reaction somewhat like this...

    Ah geez.

    Time to step in.

Your "pal". Yeah. That's what I'd call a person you daily fight with for no good reason.

...actually that sounds a lot like the Little Busters. Never mind me, carry on.

This sounds like it's getting dangerous, almost...

W-well to be fair you barely know her. But on some levels, I can see what you mean...

    That, for instance.

    Crisis averted, I hope.

He better not have heard what we just said.

    ...wait for it...

Rin has the best ideas, huh.

Honestly at this point in his shoes I might be more worried than thankful.

    Y-yeah, something like that.

Counter her tastes. This bodes well.

So I guess we have Aikawa's trust now. That's a good first step.

    I have my doubts too.

I guess the cat told us to, after all.

    Oh, Kud.

Music for this part: Exotic Toybox

If you don't pick "Help her" here you are locked out of Kud's route. Even if that wasn't the case I'd gladly lend her a hand. Maybe we can even convince Rin to help as well. (Yeah right)

    That cute little smile.

    That's the plan.

Sure, ask the girl who had trouble just saying good evening.

    Doesn't look well.

You know Riki, you could just fake a Lennon letter that tells her to help. She'd probably, no, she'd definitely buy it.

Yeah, don't you blame yourself now, Kud.

    Sounds simple enough.

    Hmmm?

    ?

I wonder what's in that box...

I guess we can't do much to help now after all.

Ignore the discolored text box, please.

So, enough of that. It's about time for another Rin Nightly Mission Impossible!

Music for this part: My Brave Smile

If Rin wins the fight with the Mysterious Lifeform on May 18th, she only manages to fight it off and would fight it again today, right here. I'll go more into that when I get strong enough to take it on.

    Something always comes up.

    Of course.

As if it were staged, huh.

Really? Miyazawa-"sama"? I feel like our lovesickness task just got a bit more difficult.

By the way, Masato is an idiot.

I don't even know what that is but it doesn't sound good.

    You're too honest, Rin.

    Once again...

Music for this part: Heroic Battle

Still no chance of beating Sasami. Her stats are just too good.

Alright, I'm calling it here. Next time is May 20th which is a Sunday so a bit of a change of pace from the usual routine. It will probably still be too long for one part. See you then.
