I know at least one or two people on here have played these games. What all have you played and what did you think of them?

Botchmun requested I review The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, so I downloaded an English translation and played it. It was the first bullet hell game I have ever played as well as the first Touhou game I have ever played. It was pretty fun, if not weird as all hell. I swear the conversations was just the writer throwing random string of words together. I don't know how much of it was lost in translation, though.

Lol bullet hell. I like the fan made music which I'll link later, but I would rage out if I played these games on anything but easy xD

You're likely to rage out even on easy... Especially on Embodiment since the last level is only available on normal or higher.

I've played all but the ones before EoSD, and the latest one "Impossible Spellcard", which I will try out soon enough.

Dialouges in the official Touhou games usually feel a bit random, though they are often pretty entertaining and sometimes contain actual information. SA (Touhou 11) probably has the most actual dialouge that makes sense. Yet, there is quite a bit of lore and story behind Touhou (especially compared to other 2D shooters) if you just dig a bit. I especially love the setting of TH7: PCB. And the characters themselves have defining powers and traits, yet they are subtle enough to leave a lot up to interpretation.

My fav game, however, is actually 12.3 - one of the fighting games. Scarlet Weather Rhapsody also had some really awesome storymodes. The personalities of many characters are actually shown a bit more clearly in that game, and I especially love some of Suika and Yukari's dialouges.

But lot of the things that make Touhou so awesome are fan-made stuff. Comics, music, fan-games etc. I was just thinking today about eventually starting a let's play of Koumajou Densetsu (Touhouvania).

...and I also have to add that "Detonate on Sound" (Touhou bomberman) is one of the best party game ever made. Period. It's miles better than any official bomberman game as far as multiplayer fun goes.



Edit: and then there's just the simple fact that you have a massive group of girls fully capable of destroying the world, all fighting each other over petty matters and then getting along and having a teaparty together at the end of the day. <3

So back with music. I have come a big fan of the artist Demitori that cover Touhou songs in a metal version. Here's one of my favourites:

I love the music and bullet patterns but I cant finish any of the games without continues even on easy.

Perfect Cherry Blossom is my favourite of the main series
Shoot the Bullet is my favourite of the decimal number spinoffs
I've played them (but not finished them) all up to 12.3

I barely understand the dialogue, from what I gather every plot is as follows:
Level 1 - 4
"Nice weather"
"I disagree"
*MAGIC FIGHT*

Level 5
"Im here to fight your boss about the weather"
"No"
*MAGIC FIGHT*

Level 6
"Change the weather back"
"No"
*MAGIC FIGHT*

Ah Touhou. I've played 1-6, 8, and 11. I was drawn to it for one reason and one reason only: THE MUSIC. Oh and Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth helped too. Poor Reisen.

I recently went though all of the videos Chaos Angel uploaded, downloaded all them, added each of the art he posted and added title/artist. Took aged, but it's worth it.

Shame he's been away for over a year though.
