I don't know about you, but I'd much rather watch a trilogy that takes an in depth look at the life and struggles of a humble moisture farmer.

Add in some Tuskan Raider romance and it'll be the best trilogy ever.

His intention was never to train Luke. I guess once Luke's aunt and uncle were dead he felt bad for him and thought better late than never? Yeah, technically he really should of left Luke to continue living a peaceful life but then none of the movies would ever have happened!

But before he finds out they've been killed, he says to Luke,

"You must learn the ways of the force, if you're to come with me to Alderran."

So he's offering to train him right there.

My theory is that Uncle Owen told that crazy old Jedi who was being hunted by the dreaded Galactic Empire to stay the freaking hell away from him and his family, for gods' sake.
