I always thought it was interesting how before episode IV C-3PO had his memory wiped and so the only character that could explain everything (especially after Obi-Wan died in IV) was R2-D2. But for some reason he chose not to? Because while Luke is piloting the ship to find Yoda he could have communicated it to Luke then.
