    No.

The only way it's better is to watch the early episodes and laugh.

The OP is clearly correct, though I admittedly enjoy the original Star Wars trilogy as well (the prologue was barf-inducingly bad). Star Trek is more intelligent, more mature, and addresses some more interesting themes. It is certainly still campy, with plenty of vaguely science-sounding nonsense as deus ex machina, but that is fairly par for the course for Sci-fi in the '80s and '90s (for TNG and DS9, the two best Star Trek series).

Star Trek also has Picard and Data. Your move, anti-Trekkers.

I've always liked the sense of adventure that you get in Star Wars but not as much in Trek. Things feel a little stiff in Star Trek. Maybe it's the uniforms. Both are good though.

Star Trek = Watch old episodes and laugh at the campiness.

Star Wars = Watch the prequels and...no, don't watch them, watch something else...like Star Trek.

I've watched all the Star Wars movies and dabbled in some of the games and books.

I've only seen Star Trek off and on throughout the years when it was on television as I was flipping channels or at someone else's house. I remember it more as kid than I do now, though. Through popular culture I know all the main characters and that type of stuff. I'd like a holodeck.

Basically, I haven't watched enough Trek to have a preference, but even if I did I wouldn't approach it as a "better than" type of thing.

hmm.... Star trek, deep moral issues and genrally shades of grey bad guys.
Star wars, either good or evil, no inbetween also turbo laser not a laser
    orginal battlestar galactica, killer robots
reimagined battlestar galactica sexy killer robots
Babylon 5, politics, shades of grey morality, war. hmm think i like B5 more than anything but trek TNG.

Star Trek only wins because of Captain Jean Luc Piccard. Only

If I were human, my response would be "go to hell."

    If I were human.

I hear you as to the "sense of adventure." Sci-fi adventure is often quite different from fantasy adventure, and Star Wars is more fantasy than it is sci-fi. That is not an indictment, just a fact. It's the primary reason why there's really no sense in comparing the two (I mean it doesn't actually get us anywhere, though, I confess, it is fun). Star Wars is better escapism than Star Trek because its adventure isn't based on Reason, but on emotion, on luck, on love, on vengeance, etc., and this makes it appeal to the parts of us traditionally more closely associated with pleasure.

What's so wrong with "stiff," though?
I'd rather be Star Trek "stiff" than Star Wars "limp" any day.
don't yell at me it's your fault if you click this I'm just being sillyEverybody needs a little stiffy every once in a while.

I totally agree that Star Wars is more science fantasy and Star Trek is more science fiction. And science fantasy is way better!

    Typical battle in Star Trek

All takes place on the bridge:
    "Enemy approaching Captain"
    "On screen."
*screen shows ship just floating there*
    "Open hailing frequencies."
    "They are not responding."
    "Shields up."
    "They are preparing to fire."
    *camera shakes*
    "Shields hodling."
    "Prepare to fire."
    "Phasers ready."
    "Fire."
Shows two ships floating outside space and then a single laser fires from one to the other.
    "Target destroyed Captain."
    "Very good Number 1."

    Typical battle in Star Wars

*ships flying everyhere, doing barrell rolls, lasers all over the screen*
"Red 5 preparing for attack run."
"Red 7 on your wing. Let's do this."
*a bunch of TIE fighers come out of nowhere*
    "AHHHHHH" *Red 7's X-Wing explodes*
    "We lost Red 7!"
*crazy flight maneuvers to avoid the barrage of lasers coming at Red 5*
*Red 5 speeds around and gets behind the TIE fighers and blasts them to bits*
*flies in between another formation of TIEs, blasting a few as he goes*
    "WOOOOOOOOYEAAHHHHH!!"

nobody in this thread can argue with this.

True. If your TV preferences are only based on a Michael Bay-esque rating of things moving fast and blowing up impressively, Star Wars (especially the prequels) has more exciting fight scenes. But then you have deeper issues to worry about than simply movie/TV show debates. Like being a terrible human being.
