    Dancing Chocobo ZSNES is being a butt

    So I want to play Super Mario RPG but the only way I have to play it currently is through an emulator. Fair enough. ZSNES is making this a big ol' pain, however. First the sound quality was horrid, although finally I managed to fix this by turning the sampling rate all the way down. Now the framerate is really jumpy when there's a lot on the screen.

    Is there some sort of setting I should be setting that I am not?

    Is there a better emulator out there than ZSNES these days? Linux availability is a big plus so I don't have to partition hop.

    It seems BSNES was renamed to Higan at some point. It's in the Arch Linux repo. http://byuu.org/higan/

    Yep, I default to SNES9X as well.
    My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

    He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

    Just chiming in to say that SNES9X is awesome, as others have already pointed out. It rarely runs games wrong and if it does, you can easily play with the settings to make it work.

    I'm using zsnes for my super mario rpg game because I already had it installed and installing new things scares and confuses me ;__;

    Zsnes' sound emulation isn't exactly spot-on, which is why I use Snes9x.

    might as well be using dialup internet if we're still on SNES9X and ZSNES.

    higan and retroarch. switch over immediately.

    Jowy, I took your advice and downloaded higan.

    It's painfully slow, running in performance mode, even on my 3gHz machine. So what were you saying?

    Yeah, I just tried out Higan and it's running smoothly for me too, also sounds a bit nicer then the SNES9X.

    I shall try out Higan, haven't heard of it until this thread. Thanks.
