Today I wondered why it's refered to as "Fourth of July" in contradiction to the date format for every other day in America. Surely the day you celebrate your independance from the shackles of Britainia's sensible dating formats should follows the month/day pattern.

Fun fact about the movie Independence Day: Bill Pullman (the guy who plays the president) used to teach at the local university here. He got into acting because the students told him he'd be great at it. He's still friends with a lot of the professors here and I met him once
