Well... I tired Half-Life today and... Nope again not my thing at all. I don't really enjoy FPS.

Oh well, I'll keep this short.

    Half-Life

Half-Life is now a well known legend for most gamers. This science fiction FPS was first released in 1998 so more than 15 years ago.

For such an old game, the graphics are pretty impressive, only thing that hit me really hard that there were TONS of copies of the same NPCs everywhere. I know it's old and stuff but when you meet like 4 NPC palettes everywhere it looks bad nowadays.

As for gameplay, there really isn't much better system of shooting/weapons today so it holds itself in that regard too. The overall physics in the game are pretty decent as well, so is movement. It kind of felt like Mirror's Edge sometimes.

The story (of what I've seen mind you) looks like you - Gordon Freeman - work as pro physicist in secret underground lab with some mysterious material. You are experimenting with it but then of course something goes wrong and it somehow connects the place with some alien planet/dimension. Of course they are violent and start killing everyone.

Here's a little capture of my gameplay, as you can see I am pretty confused when it comes to FPS.

Well I stopped playing about hour and half into the game so I don't know more. Let's just move to rating.

    Rating:

    Objectively:

The game is a classic nowadays and is well known to everyone. And there are definitely reasons why. For how old the game is, gameplay is excellent, graphics are very decent as well and the story looks while maybe little cliché, still very interesting. For lovers of FPS, it's definitely a gem.

    8/10

    Subjectively:

I was never really a fan of the whole: here's your gun, now shoot stuff games and most of time not even a great story can keep me interested if all I do is shoot stuff while trying to stay alive and move forward.

I probably won't touch Half-Life again anytime soon and put it to rest of the FPS I won't be playing. But who knows, maybe someday, perhaps it will be an acquired taste for me.

    5/10

Okay this may get me eaten alive and I understand that but seriously, not my kinda game. In my 15 years of gaming I really only finished like four FPS: first Halo, first two Metal Gear Solids and Mirror's Edge but that one isn't really about shooting so it doesn't even count. Plus I played Quake 3 Arena in school with friends but that's about it.

Well we will see what tomorrow game will be and what will be my opinion of that one. If you people vote though, seems like most of you aren't really interested in this a slightest bit Can't blame you though, my reviews aren't exactly of good quality >_>

Metal Gear Solid isn't a first-person shooter, unless you mean you don't like shooters in general.

I've never heard of any of the games except Ys I, so I vote that one.

I actually quite like what you're doing! It's like short snappy reviews practically everyday. It's pretty neat. Keep it up!

Mark of the Ninja. I have nothing to base this on other than "ninja" being in the title.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons! I just played that one a few days ago. You should try to play it through to the end if you can (even if it's not today), as it starts out kinda slow but gets better with time.

Ohh votes for tomorrow are starting to accumulate :x So far three games - three votes!

Anyway I tried the World of Goo so here's my review of it.

    World of Goo

World of Goo is multiplatform puzzle indie game and pretty popular nonetheless.

The gameplay is simple, yet fun. The goal of the game is to solve how to get your balls of goo to drainpipe with at least x balls left. However the puzzles aren't always easy, there are many obstacles such as big abysses, wheels that destroy your goo, spikes that destroy your baloons and of course physics. The goo balls don't form solid connections and can easily fall apart if you build enough support.

There are also multiple type of goo. So far I've seen normal ones that connect permanently and green ones that can be reconnected but there are definitely many, many more!

The game has many levels that are also divided in few chapters and also a multiplayer mode. You see, in each level you need to save a set amount of balls but if you manage to save more, they will go to your multiplayer mode where you can then try to build the highest possible tower of them and compete with players worldwide in height.

World of Goo also has really nice graphic and art style in my opinion. The music also fits the game good. Not too distractive but sounds nice. Also the balls of goo sometimes say something in Minion like voice so if you are fan of those yellow fellas it's great.

Here is a video of me playing some levels from first chapter:

    Rating:

    Objectively:

The game has great diversity of levels and is very creative in it's art and style. It also offers good enough replayability with the goal of saving the most goos and building highest tower to compete with other players.

Definitely an amazing game in the puzzle genre that can be played at home or on the go depending what platform you play on and can be played even if you don't have much time because each level is swift if you know what to do.

    9/10

    Subjectively:

Pretty much what I said in objective part of the rating. I definitely like it and I am looking forward to playing it more.

The only reason I played just the first chapter of levels was pretty much because I don't want to finish this game in a day, I want to keep savoring it for a long time.

    9/10

So, looks like I found my first real favorite from the games I've yet to play. Definitely gonna be part of my gaming list for quite some time.

I'll weigh in with Brothers, as it's the only one I've done. I enjoyed it. I did it in one night so no reason why you can't!

I enjoy your reviews. I thought I owned World of Goo but it turns out it's just Puddle.

Yeah if Brothers win (and they most likely will!) I will finish it whole since it's supposed to only be under 4 hours long so why not?

I'm voting for Ys. Though Mark of the Ninja is the best stealth game I've ever played, and Brothers is good too.
