Steam cards

Okay so I am still sort of newb when it comes to Steam.

What are the cards I receive from playing various games for? So far I just sold all that came my way because free money! Is there anything else other than collecting to do with them?

You get like ranks and backgrounds for your steam page when you unlock enough cards for each game or sale.

So it's not really "useful" but rather visual type of thing?

Yeah I don't believe they help you or give you anything in game.

Good, gonna sell them all then since I don't care for badges and steam backgrounds.

Cherry Tree High Comedy Club had pretty expensive cards, I made like 1.2 euro for five of them which is pretty nice considering most classic cards usually go for 0.08-0.15.
