Did you ever use this adorable little summon?
I actually didn't except in IX where it had different abilities for different gems. Other than that I didn't really use it, although I wanted to
I used Carbuncle quite a bit in VIII against sorceress battles, but that's about it.
Try doing a low level run in FFVI and you'll definitely use it.
It's pretty handy for an instant full-party reflect buff (or whatever it gives you in each game, it might vary), if you're short on time and up against a strong mage.
everything is wrapped in gray
i'm focusing on your image
can you hear me in the void?
When i was younger, my brother convinced me that if i cast carbuncle and then use vivi to cast a spell on a player character that it reflects back to the enemy stronger. I did it for a while until i realized it was making it weaker.
That depends on when and where I get Carbuncle and in which Final Fantasy. In Final Fantasy V and VI I have Golem, and in VI Zone Seek and Phantom (not that they reflect) and don't really need it and getting Carbuncle in X-Death's castle is too late if you ask me. Iifar or Deling City is okay. In Final Fantasy IV an early Carbuncle would have been good. Carbuncle early would always be good actually as long as you can reflect much.
In certain battles it may be ok, but to me reflect is the least useful defensive buff. I'd rather have something like Big Guard (or whatever it was called) Blue Magic from FFV.
Mighty Guard
I've only really used Carbuncle on two occasions. 1 for beating Bahamut in IV and 2nd against the stone tablet in the Desert Palace in IX. I remember using it in another boss encounter before but all it did was just cast reflect on himself so that didn't do any good.

It depends on the game and even then it's usefulness is limited.
True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
It's only useful sometimes but that can be said about most summons
Kefka's coming, look intimidating!
Have a nice day!!
Not really. Sometimes would actually find the status effect annoying.
He is incredibly useful in Final Fantasy XIV, both Topaz and Emerald!
And he's soooo cute too! n.n
