Yes, I rarely bother with the underwater materia. I usually just go in with the lucky 7's trick and it's no problem.

Ha, this never even occurred to me. That would have been a fantastic challenge. I'm pretty sure I could have accomplished it as well. If I ever play 7 again, I'll have to try it that way. By the time I faced him, I was more than ready anyway
I don't remember the last time I used the Underwater materia... the fight doesn't even take 10 minutes for me anyways.
