While playing Final Fantasy XIV, I have noticed very frequently some rather recognisable quest titles which I'm pretty sure have been put down to give us all a terrible case of the earworms. Some clever folks on the localization team are having a real good laugh. It's clearly not just the Bards of Eorzea who are feeling musical, check this out.
1. A Thousand Words - Level 2 - Limsa Lominsa
- This is a lvl 2 side story quest in Limsa Lominsa. There are two songs with this title that I can think of. So This could either be Christina Perri's 'Twilight' hit, A Thousand Words, or Final Fantasy's very own Yuna mega ballad. Take your pick, and try to stop humming it. I know that you're hiding things, using gentle words to shelter me....
2. Every Little Thing She Does is Magitek - Level 46 - Mor Dhona
-The Main Story Quest probably has some of my favourite punny quest titles thrown in there, but there are still a good few musical ones too. This is probably my personal favourite. Every little thing she does is magic, everything she does just turns me on... now get out of my head!!
3. I Just Died (In Six Arms) Tonight - Level 13 FATE - Western La Noscea
- From a FATE in Quarterstone, you have to battle 'Old Six Arms' who is a giant crab, was it something he said?. In terms of music, this song is more epic than the last two, I think. Try to read that without getting some old 80's pop/rock stuff jammed between your ears!
4. Smells Like Tree Spirit - Level 37 FATE - North Shroud
-They had to didn't they? And yes, you do fight Trees in this FATE. Of course you do! Now I'm playing this FATE with heavy guitar and drumming in my head. I think pretty much everyone else is too though. Hilarious move, Square Enix. Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello.
5. Once Bitten, Twice Shy - Level 3 - Gridania
- I kept my distance, but you still catch my eye... tell me baby, do you recognise me? Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me. Yes, it's a stretch but it works. Damn you Square Enix! It's not even October and I'm in a Christmas groove!
6. Killing Him Softly - Level 26 - South Shroud
-For all the love song lovers out there, here comes a bite size bit of The Fugees to groove to, or you know, Roberta Flack. Whatever floats your boat. One time, one time!
7. Eyes On Me - Level 35 - Eastern Thanalan
-Eyes on Final Fantasy's favourite tune of all time finds it's way to Final Fantasy XIV. Whenever sang my song... On this stage, on my own... SING IT WITH ME!
8. All By Ourselves - Level 39 - Coerthas Central Highlands
- This one again is probably a slight stretch but instantly I'm belting out some Celine Dion, and now I feel like Renee Zellweger all over again.
9. Rock the Castrum - Level 50 - Northern Thanalan
- Rock the casbah, rock the casbah. Err, I mean Castrum. Totally makes this pretty serious last mission a bit less serious and slightly more funky though right?
10. All Upon The Watchtowers - 49 - Northern Thanalan
-And let's finish this with some vintage Hendrix or Dylan, depending on what your preferences are. You did good with this one guys, real good! There must be some kind of way out of here...
