First, I would say equip a piece of armor with the no encounter ability if you have it.
Fortunately, there are certain spots on the map that will have lightning strikes no matter what. You can plan ahead to walk into certain spots and be prepared for the white flash. Follow this video and you'll nail it in no time. Be sure to check out your mini-map for location reference:
