Moogle The Onion Knights, Children or Teens?

There is a bit of a strange interpretation of this from different sources that feel the Onion Knights are actually children (under 13 years of age) while others simply say they are probably teenagers who are younger than heroes represented in the first two games. So what do you feel, did FFIII send some prepubescent kids on a grand adventure or do you feel they are teens/adults?

Teens. I have instructed sword-fighting classes for kids (SPOILER)they aren't that good at that age, and there is no way I could ever wrap my head around someone that age saving the world.

Very young teens, like 13 or maybe 14. The way a couple of the characters act would be very strange if they were over 15.
Xenogears is the tragic story of how your whole life can take a crappy turn, just because you happened to see a lady in a wedding dress before her wedding.

They look a little bit like both in the NES version.

I suppose I didn't think about it too much until now.

I think I always thought of them as sort of chibi-esque so that even if they were late teens they could pass as young thanks to the art style. The more I think about it, the more they just seem like young to mid teens.

I say theyre children (10-12) but the shards have adult spirits living in them that give them knowledge from their lives like in Avatar (the cartoon).

But I've never finished the game so something after the first world map might contradict my theory.

Well, I was going to say the NES version (only one I've played so far) gave me the impression they're young teens, or possibly start out as children but grow a few years in the course of the game (just that it's not made obvious like doing a time skip or anything). I wouldn't expect 10 year olds to save the world or to have the love story that seemed to be hinted at with that princess, but we know they're not adults and they do kind of "act young" compared to say a 16-18 year old.

    So yeah, 14 sounds right
