This is one of those 2600 games everyone I knew loved, but I never really 'got'. That's not to say I thought poorly of the game, but more that I always remember it being an inferior pick to just about every other option we had. This likely stems from 2600 gaming, for me, being more of a social experience than anything else, with head-to-head games like Outlaw, Combat, and Warlords being my go-to titles while most others fell to the wayside, but it might also have been the style of the game too, as it's a lot slower and more tactical than, say, Pole Position or Pitfall!, which were two of my other favorites for the console.

Of course, the situation also might have been different if I had owned a 2600 instead of playing a neighbor's, which limited the amount of time I had to appreciate more solo experiences like these. I mean, thinking about it, for all of my love, Combat and Warlords suck solo, so I'd be spending a lot less time with those and probably have loved Yars Revenge, as it is built on some really solid ideas and boredom was much easier to stave off in the 2600 era where games, on the whole, were much simpler.

Either way, though, thanks for the review, ToriJ, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you have in store for the month.
