    I think you might try the SNES version? If you haven't already?

    It's much easier on the eyes and ears.

    Note - I remember harboring similar feelings after having beaten the game for the first time...I kinda wish they'd gone into more detail about what happened after that. Apparently the point of the game is that killing Kefka just makes everything better?
