For anyone who may question how well Square Enix has been doing over the last few years, the answer is that they're doing pretty well indeed. A lot of the company's fans may have had doubts as to how some of their decisions have worked out for them financially - especially their controversial focus on developing games for the mobile platform. It turns out these decisions have been financially favourable.
This year, the company has had a revenue of ¥73.1 billion ($637.6 million), compared to ¥61.6 billion ($537.5 million) last year. Meanwhile, the company's profit has more than doubled, climbing from ¥2.6 billion ($22.7 million) last year to ¥5.7 billion ($49.7 million) this year. Wow Square Enix... Um, mind throwing some of that my way?
Square Enix have said that games like Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X have been progressing financially, and that their mobile games "continued to post favorable results." As well as that, their console games continue to grow year by year and their back catalog sales have been particularly strong in the west.
Now, if only they'd pour all that money into getting us Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV a lot sooner...
