There's a whole lot of of RPG characters. And while I like them, one of my absolute favorites is Garrus Vakkarian


He's the best buddy of your MC and he is a general badass. He's with you for all three games and unlike the other characters, when everyone thinks you're dead as a doornail, instead of moping around or being angry, he tries to continue to right wrongs and becomes Archangel. And when you come back and are like, sup, he doesn't question anything he just joins right back with you. No drama, well besides killing things to get to him and get him out, when you ask him to help again. He's loyal and a well developed character.
