I have this series from somewhere. I have played approx 20 minutes of the first one and I struggle to find out what to do. xD I am terrible at point'n'click, but I really like them.

I can confirm that it's unusually difficult to figure out what you're supposed to click on in this game. xD

I really do like point and click games, but I haven't played a huge deal of them. I wonder if I should look into getting more.

If you're going into a genre that is similarly very limited but which has pedigree like Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and the original Discworld, you've got to be smurfing good to matter.

Not to mention The Longest Journey. And Sam & Max. Sam & Max is always the one I want to play if I bother to get back into point and click because I seem to remember it being pretty weird and/or funny when I was a kid.

Look into Artifex Mundi, they have quite a few on Steam, and I've played/beaten most and they're really good. (When I start my thread like this you'll see a few of them)

I'm glad indies are keeping point-and-click games relevant though. And its also extremely nice that they're legitimate trying. I have one of these games and Gemini Rue and Resonance. I haven't tried the Blackwell game or Resonance. But Gemini Rue is really interesting. I don't think it's going to compare to Grim Fandango, but new games from small/new developers probably shouldn't immediately have to compete with the greats from decades ago from studios who could afford decent writers and stuff. Not really saying "passable" is my benchmark. Just that they merely have to be good, rather than great, for me to feel like I haven't wasted my money. And Gemini Rue was different enough. Not fantastic, but it kept my interest for a bit. I imagine the Blackwell games would have the same effect. Sadly my life seems too fast and frantic these days for low profile relaxing games like point-and-click. I should probably change that aspect though. That mindset keeps me from also enjoying things like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, which are also on my Steam library

But hey, thanks for giving a little known newer point-and-click some attention. I know a lot of people think the genre is dead, and this may open their eyes that things are still out there if they're interested

Yes, yes, you should. I recommend The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, even if you're not familiar with the source material. I wasn't for either game and I still enjoyed them immensely. And hopefully your copy of The Wolf Among Us won't glitch like a mother smurfer if you do get it.

I think this might be the first game in the series, since our heroine doesn't have a ghost friend yet. Instead, her story revolves around trying to get past some punk teenager kid who won't let her into her apartment...

...talking to a doctor, who happily informs her that going absolutely insane runs in her family...

...and getting cockblocked by Bill Paxton anytime she tries to do anything else.

    "Game over man. Game over!"

The story was actually shaping up to be fascinating and more interesting than the first Blackwell game I tried. Unfortunately I got frustrated after trying several things and failing to figure out what I was supposed to do or click next. I think I just suck at point and click games in general.

The gameplay, from what I can tell, is the exact same as that of Blackwell Convergence (the last game in this series that I tried out.) So I think it's just the story that's different!

    THE VERDICT:

    • Interesting story
    • I wanted to keep playing but I suck at point and click
    • You may be similarly frustrated if you also suck at point and click
    • I guess it's on Steam sale for like 50 cents sometimes though
    • So it may be worth it if you like this kind of thing!

Joke that probably only Huxley will get: That doctor looks like smurfing Harold Shipman.

Oh wow you're right, he does as well! No wonder he doesn't seem to be very good.

Sorry that things are going slowly. I've been getting sidetracked by other games

This is the third of the three Blackwell games that I own, and frankly, it's basically identical to the others in terms of style and gameplay, so I didn't spend much time with it.

I did learn that apparently our heroine is now a smoker:

And that she's pretty upset at her ghost buddy:

    Unbound 2015-02-05 16-28-57-03.jpg

    And that...

    Unbound 2015-02-05 16-34-50-33.jpg

...wait a second, is that the World Trade Center?

    Unbound 2015-02-05 16-37-37-97.jpg

oh god you guys have got a big storm comin'

    THE VERDICT:

    • Same thoughts as the prior games in the series
    • Interesting story, good for point and click fans
    • Kind of confusing to figure out what to do next a lot of the time, though
