Note: Spoilers.

Great scott! We've made it out of the "A" section of my Steam list and into the "B" section!

Way back in the day before Telltale Games turned The Walking Dead into a huge thing, they turned Back to the Future into a moderately huge thing.

It all starts out pretty familiar.

It also turns out that I have the film script memorized well enough that when it asks me to choose the next line I can pick the correct one.

The familiarities end quickly, though, because you soon discover (through a couple of familiar franchise in-jokes) that this was all a dream and that it is 1986, several months after Doc went flying away in his time traveling train at the end of the third film. They're selling off Doc's estate so I get to look around.

Turns out Doc is in TROUBLE in the 1930s, and after some shenanigans it's time to hit 88 miles per hour and see some serious trout.

bttf4.jpg

Doc has given himself an appropriate pseudonym so as to hide his identity.

And shortly after, I get to choose one for myself, as well.

Did I mention that Doc is voiced by Christopher Lloyd himself? It's pretty awesome.

bttf7.jpg

Doc's plan is for me to enlist the teenage version of himself to invent a gadget and bust Doc Prime out of jail.

Annnnnd to absolutely NO ONE'S surprise, Mini Doc is a huge turbonerd.

I quit playing not long after this - only because I was short on time, though!

THE VERDICT:

  • Mega fans (or anyone who grew up with BttF) will love all the little in-jokes and references
  • You can tell that Telltale is still "learning", some things are kind of awkward
  • There's a comprehensive hint system if you want it, although you can also turn it off if you don't
  • It's not exactly "The Walking Dead" but it's still pretty fun
  • Get it if you like point and click and/or Back to the Future
  • (come on who DOESN'T like Back to the Future)
