I still have to crawl my way through ACIII before I can really get into ACIV. It's tough for me as I got quite far in and then my PS3's hard drive died and I didn't have PS+ at the time so my saves were all lost. PS+ for life for me now!

I'm up for posting silly screenshots of my ACII playthrough if enough people are interested. I'd make a new thread so as not to clutter up this one.

I am pretty sure that everyone who bought Humble Bundle 1 (which is where I, and presumably Unne and Pike, got it from) has a DRM-free copy of it which we can download/share. It isn't really very good, though.

    Dancing Chocobo

    Avadon: The Black Fortress
    RPG/Turn-based/Isometric
    Steam Link

This game is an RPG and it's old-school.

    avadon1.JPG

First off you get to pick your class. I'm choosing to be the swordsman, because come on, big strong guys bashing heads in is where it's AT.

    avadon2.JPG

Remember when I said that this was old-school? It's really old-school.

    avadon3.JPG

    This is, like... Fallout tier.

    avadon4.JPG

This is the battle screen. It's turn based so you and any party members you have take turns attacking the monsters.

Now there's some sort of storyline going on, but I'm mostly ignoring it as I charge into the nearest dungeon.

    avadon5.JPG

This is followed by several minutes of dungeon crawling and killing the obligatory rats and spiders. It's nothing particularly special, but still pretty fun.

    avadon6.JPG

This reference to one of my favorite books made me really happy

    THE VERDICT:

    • You'll probably like it if you like oldschool RPGs like Fallout and Fallout 2
    • Lore and world seems to be more interesting than most generic fantasy games
    • Nothing super standout or special though
    • Vaguely tactical (things like positioning are important)
    • Looks kinda grindy
    • Basically check it out if you like this style of game

    Dancing Chocobo

    Awesomenauts
    MOBA/Platform/Vaguely fighting?
    Steam Link

Awesomenauts is not a game that I am new to.

    awesomenauts1.JPG

It's also not a game that I feel can really be properly conveyed through simply text and screenshots. It's a MOBA, sure, but it's different enough that it's really its own thing and I can't think of anything else that is similar.

    So I made a video.

And then I promptly made another video because the first video was serious BS.

    THE VERDICT:

    • TL;DR: 2-D platforming team-based MOBA
    • This is easily one of my favorite games on Steam
    • I just love it, I love the sense of humor and how fun it is
    • Surprisingly decent online community
    • There are lots of free weekends so CHECK IT OUT
    • I want to make an EoFF group for this game
    • Seriously though you guys it's mega fun

I played it once, and lost, because I didn't know what was going on. So basically, the same as any new player in any MOBA. It seemed like it was probably fun, though.

    Dancing Chocobo

    Back to the Future
    Graphic Adventure/Point-and-click/It's Telltale
    Steam Link

    Note: Spoilers.

Great scott! We've made it out of the "A" section of my Steam list and into the "B" section!

Way back in the day before Telltale Games turned The Walking Dead into a huge thing, they turned Back to the Future into a moderately huge thing.

    bttf1.jpg

It all starts out pretty familiar.

    bttf2.jpg

It also turns out that I have the film script memorized well enough that when it asks me to choose the next line I can pick the correct one.

The familiarities end quickly, though, because you soon discover (through a couple of familiar franchise in-jokes) that this was all a dream and that it is 1986, several months after Doc went flying away in his time traveling train at the end of the third film. They're selling off Doc's estate so I get to look around.

    bttf3.jpg

Turns out Doc is in TROUBLE in the 1930s, and after some shenanigans it's time to hit 88 miles per hour and see some serious trout.

    bttf4.jpg

Doc has given himself an appropriate pseudonym so as to hide his identity.

    bttf5.jpg

And shortly after, I get to choose one for myself, as well.

    bttf6.jpg

Did I mention that Doc is voiced by Christopher Lloyd himself? It's pretty awesome.

    bttf7.jpg

Doc's plan is for me to enlist the teenage version of himself to invent a gadget and bust Doc Prime out of jail.

    bttf8.jpg

Annnnnd to absolutely NO ONE'S surprise, Mini Doc is a huge turbonerd.

    bttf9.jpg

I quit playing not long after this - only because I was short on time, though!

    THE VERDICT:

    • Mega fans (or anyone who grew up with BttF) will love all the little in-jokes and references
    • You can tell that Telltale is still "learning", some things are kind of awkward
    • There's a comprehensive hint system if you want it, although you can also turn it off if you don't
    • It's not exactly "The Walking Dead" but it's still pretty fun
    • Get it if you like point and click and/or Back to the Future
    • (come on who DOESN'T like Back to the Future)
