Default A Theoretical Final Fantasy II Experience

Ok, hold on tight, because I'm going to ask you to use your imagination. I know it's difficult in the modern age, because OOOOH SOMETHING SHINY

What if you had played FFII immediately after having played the NES version of FFI? As in, right when it came out?

Do you think you would have liked it? Do you think you would have liked it more than you do now? Did playing the later entries in the series first ruin the "feel" of this game?

You can say what you want about it, but the story is far more dark and human than anything Dragon Quest has ever attempted. It starts you right off with longing for the sweet promise of death as you watch half your party getting utterly wasted to hell.

...That would've caught my attention in 1991.

    Well? Go for it.

FFII is underrated. I love it now. I would have loved it then.

This. I love FFII. Definitely one of my favorites. Might even be in my Top Three.
