Final Fantasy VII and X|X-2 HD coming to PS4

Square Enix officially stated today that both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster are coming to the PS4 this spring. Unfortunately for fans, the only remaster we're getting is the exisiting X|X-2 one, for now at least.

Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy VII this spring for $15.99. This will be the PC version of the game with "system-exclusive" features on PS4, although they haven't explained what those special features will be. Joining it's spring release is also the recently remastered version of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for $49.99. Previously it had been leaked that this will happen but Square Enix has now confirmed it. Both will be Playstation exclusives.

It's not a remake for Final Fantasy VII but it's at least a baby step in the right direction. If you want to relive it all over again in artistic glory though, don't forget to check out our Final Fantasy VII: Moments art project.

Thoughts? Anyone going to spend the money on VII or X|X-2 again?

People were Ultra-pissed about the VII port when that was announced. I think it might be high time for the fan base to start getting ugly about this, booing heavily, throwing toilet paper rolls, shouting derogatory remarks. STEP IT UP, NERDS!

Actually the PC version is definitively superior. Not enough to make this a huge deal, but given the choice between playing the PS1 or PC version it isn't a contest.

Or simply stop buying their games, attending their events, etc. Don't spend time on them, don't spend money on them. Ignore them and they'll get desperate for your attention. How else can they know that 1) We're angry, 2) we have a consensus on what we're angry about?

Telling the plain truth, though, they're going to have to remake 7 lest the fanbase start eating each other in anticipation

Think I'll pass on this one. Even if I had a PS4 I don't make a habit of buying games I already have.

I didn't buy the remaster because I had a feeling that this would eventually happen. They poured quite a bit of resource into a game that was released after the platform was effectively superseded by the new generation. Only makes sense I guess since it will have even higher resolution textures. But to be honest, I probably won't be in any rush to purchase this version. Completing FFX once would be enough for me in this lifetime.
