    There are possibly hundreds or maybe even thousands of variations of Tolkien's books. What do yours look like?

    My poor sad Fellowship of the Ring copy I got for Christmas when I was eight or nine (I do not remember which exactly) from my grandmother. It has been through many moves, has been bent in a thousand ways and suffers from water damage, but I can't bear to part with it.

    This is a 50th anniversary edition of The Hobbit I found at a thrift store. The outside cover is a bit beat up, but other than that, it's perfect. The book itself is a shiny, beautiful hardcover, and was illustrated by the author. I have no guess as to why anyone would ever discard such a thing.

    Once upon a time I had a a couple of matching sets of Lord of the Rings, but they have been long lost or given away. I've been eyeballing this set specifically because oh my god ;-;

    Show me what your books look like!

    I don't have mine on hand, but I got a box set of 4 paperbacks that include the LOTR trilogy & The Hobbit. Actually found a pic of it online:

    Received these lovelies for Christmas two years ago. This is the only pic I have handy. I'll get another shot of these and my older, paperback set tomorrow morning before work.

    Dees are mine. I picked them all up from a second hand bookstore. Hoping to read them next month.

    Pike, I had that same version, as well as the Lord of the Rings ones!

    I only own The Fellowship, but I do love the cover design of it.

    I'd actually already owned a copy of it before this one, but it was that extremely lame movie tie-in version with Elijah Wood's big dumb face on it. I wasn't game for that.

    I still have mine! It's super beat up though I also have the other version like Pants does.
