I found a mini medal.
Interestingly, I hadn't heard of this game before, in more than passing anyway. I do agree it looks nice -- almost reminds of me of a more compact Altered Beast in a way. Your mention of the US version being a masochist's dream and seeking out the PAL version for everyone else reminds me of Dragon's Lair on the NES, which I hear is actually playable in different regions. It makes me wonder if the change in refresh rate had something to do with it, though I hear the ROM space was expanded for other regions in Lair's case as well. It's an interesting thought, though. Were there any bonus additions to this title for the EU/JP releases?
Did you happen to play Blades of Vengeance on the Genesis/Mega Drive? It was also made by EA and came out a few years after Shadow of the Beast. Both are action platformers, from what I can tell of Shadow, and I'm kind of interested in how you feel they stack up.
Anyway, nice review, man. Keep up the good work.![]()
