Final Fantasy II
uh oh i can hear the FF VIII fans shouting at me right now.
anyway. again im looking at this from the GBA version so yeah
Story: one day the people of the kingdom of Fynn were having fish and chips for tea, when suddenly a bunch of soulless slow moving warriors burned down the whole city. 4 young adults escaped but were hunted down by the forces of evil and killed. they woke up to be healed by The White wizard of fynn but only 3 were there, Firion , Maria and Guy/Gus. the princess told us to see scott. scott died then the 3 warriors got to join the rebels and they had to go north and save a bunch of miners. after that the princess ordered them to get the stuff to go into the ancient castle, so they did and with the help of a bald guy they killed the evil turtle. ( i forgot to mention that the empire built an evil Airship called the dreadnought which is why they need to go to the castle to get sunfire to blow it up). upon their escape an evil traitor called borghen blocked their way. they killed him but not before he did his own kefka laugh and summoned a boulder. the bald guy decided he had to hold the boulder, so he did and the others got away but the bald guy died. they went to the castle and found this wimpy dude called gordon who is scotts brother. they kill the fire thing and get the fire and head up to the dreadnought. they fling the fire into the dreadnought and it starts EXPLODE!!!. but a "mysterious" black knight talks to them and runs away. ( in the GBA version he has a portrait that is blacked out but still has the outline. meaning you already know who he is if you have payed attention) when they get back to altair the princess amounts an assualt on Fynn. they win and gordon becomes king with the princess becoming queen. oh yeah and the old king died because of some reasons. after that they go to get some dragoons meet a pirate see all the dead dragoons and wyverns. the last wyvern gives them egg. they place egg in water go home. then they go to mysidia tower to get ultima. our friend The white wizard of fynn. dies sadly. the heroes get ultima and go home again. ( forgot to mention. outside of mysidia tower they get eaten by the leviathan and the pirate girl isnt with them. all the dragoons and other people are there and one joins you called ricardo or something and you get out.) when they go home, they are in fear as almost every town has been destroyed by the cyclone. the heroes go to a mirror and the wyvern who was in the egg comes out and brings you into the cyclone. you fight the emperor and kill him. you hear that the dark knight has taken over. and you decide to go to the castle. when there you are about to fight the dark knight when suddenly the emperor appears telling you he has become the ruler of HELL!. ricardo stays and fights him while the dark knight reveals he is leon ( maria's brother) the 4th person from the start. you escape and ricardo dies. now you go into the jade passage ( the passage to hell) and go to castle pandemonium. you fight the emperor and win.
wow that was longer than the FFVIII one ( but tbh i shortened the FF8 one)
ok well that was the main game but there is a add on version introduced in the gba port. called soul of rebirth or something. basically you go to pandemonium again but this time its in heaven. yes the emperor not only conquered hell but he also conquered heaven aswell. why are you going through here againanyway you may ask. well Scott , the white wizard of fynn, bald guy and ricardo are all dead. so you play as them as you go to heaven and fight. idk i never played this part of the game.
Gameplay. this game is the zelda 2 of the FF games. basiclly you raise stats not by leveling up. you get your stats up depending on what you use. so to get magic up you need to use spells. to get HP up you need to be hit. in the versions prior to the GBA your stats can go down which is bad. now you can manipulate these stats in some versions using glitches or just hitting yourself. which is stupid. however this different level up system isnt actually that bad to me i find it fun and allows me to max out my stats ( at that point of the game ) pretty easily.
verdict: This game has a pretty good story but the gameplay is a thing that people might be afraid of when playing this game. so if you play this game beware of it. i like the story and most of the characters cool. and of course. this villian has to be one of the most powerful ( not when you fight him) of the whole series and in dissidia he also tries to become the god of chaos himself ( i have not played dissidia).

Why would FFVIII fans yell at you?
FFII was a good game, but I still find it weird that your fists can do more damage than a smurfing sword, but you played the GBA version which I believe rectified most of the issues that were criticized in the past.

ok well im looking at this from only FFVII not CC or AC or DoC. also i only playd the ps1 version ( though to my understanding nothing changed between this and the PC port)
Story: Goku rip off cloud rides a train to a reactor with MR T ripoff Barret and co.
they fight a bunch of people and set up a bomb to blow the reactor up they escape. cloud goes off on his own to meet soon-to-be-dead Aeris/Aerith. cloud jumps on a train and the the other dudes are on it. they go home to the slums. cloud meets Final fantasy's lara croft. Tifa. they talk and cloud joins theyre little band for more missions. they go and blow up reactor 2 and escape. this time the leader of the goverment is here. a machine is called and when defeated blow cloud into the abyss below. cloud awakens to see the flower girl aeris once again. aeris is being hunted down because she is ancient and must have been wearing some anti aging cream the rest of the world want. they escape and meet aeris mother. cloud decides to go home but aeris teleports and goes with him they talk a bit and see tifa going to become a sex slave. cloud dresses as a girl to save her and they get information that Sector 7, cloud and co's home, is going to be destroyed. they return and try to stop it but fail everyoe dies except cloud tifa aeris and barret. aeris has been captured. the gang head up to the Goverment HQ and meet crazed scientist hojo and talking dog Red XIII. howver i will refer to him by his proper name and call him Nanaki. aeris is saved adn they go away but not before they are captured. when the gang wake up the doors are open. sephiroth has been here. the president is dead and his son is here too. after a fight rufus ( presidents son) escapes. they crew escape the city on funny vehicles. and they meet up at a small town. cloud tells his past. ( i hate this bit). ok for sake of spoilers i will dumb the rest down alot because this is one of the most populour aand really confusing and i will be here for ages.ok.
Cloud and the crew begin chasing sephiroth across the world. they find sephiroth on a ship but it wasnt really because it was jenova. barret begins being depressed as he returns to his hometown. they go to the casino and meet puffer! the lovable cat. puffer joins the team. they chase barret and find that dead people have been killed. they think its barret but are thrown in prison where they kill Dyne who also has a gun. cloud wins chocobo race and they are free. sephiroth chasing has resumed. the crew has arrived at nanaki's home. a whole scene of nanaki's past takes place but is ever spoke of again. they go to nibelheim. the true home of cloud and tifa. an optional scene may take place where a hidden character is uncovered. we will not speak of him. after crossing the mountains the crew find cid who is pissed off cos he didnt get to go into space like that droid from Portal 2. rufus shows up to steal cids plane. but he aint having that and they all escape. after a hunt the crew goes into the temple of ancients. stuff happen a special agent dies. they get the black materia which sumons meteor. they escape go to the ancient city where aerith decided to go because she had to summon Holy. aerith attempts to be like most characters from FF2 Telah and Galuf. but to veterans of the ff series may come off as redundant. she dies. the crew go to the top of a mountain and find sephiroth. cloud goes AWOL giving sephiroth the black materia. rufus and the rest of shinra are there too. they all go home to escape the monsters called "weapons". barrett and tifa are blamed and are about to be executed when suddenly sapphire weapon comes and unintentionaly free's tifa she climbs across the massive cannon and is rescued by all the other members. oh yeah and the weapon is blown up by the cannon they escape and look for cloud. ( they stole an airship aswell btw) cloud is seen but is unwell. tifa stays behind. the rest of the crew are alerted that the shinra are going to blow up meteor with the HUGE materia and cids rocket. they go and get the materia from 2 places and go back to cloud. uh oh ultimate weapon appears and the whole town is destroyed with cloud and tifa falling into the lifestream. another scene takes place where cloud identifies who he really is. they go back and go after more huge materia until they eventually go to cids Rocket. uh oh they are trapped in it. as it launches. cid is happy he got to go into space and they get the last huge materia and go to the escape pod. well done cloud and co. you stopped shinra from saving the world. anyway. the crew attempt to find out what happened in places as they return to the city of ancients and see that aeris summoned holy. upon leaving though a huge diamond weapon appears.firing a barrage of missiles at midgar city. the crew go into midgar while the whole shinra starts to fall apart ( i like this bit) hojo is found above attempting to fire the cannon with huge force to give sephiroth more power. doing so will destroy the city it is said. they beat hojo and they fly to the north cave. below is found the mighty jenova absolute and then finally a confrontation against the one winged angel himself. they kill him and escape.

Gameplay: you fight like normal blah blah. the materia system is new and you can put a variety of coulorful stones on you to make your more powerful. when you do though you can lose stats. if you are like me on my first run you will have like 2000HP on the final boss. if you do not put all the materia on you can have much more. some even increase specific stats. e.g. HP plus.
verdict: the game is good aint the best the story is incomplete with out the rest of the ffVII compilation but i havent played those so yeah. the materia was annoying first time i played but when i got used to it it was fine. its just a meh game overall. nothing terribly bad nothing terribly good. well except one of the best OST's in all of FF. but yes number 5 on my list is FF VII.
You may want to consider spacing some of that out so it's more readable.
I like FFVII. Graphics give me a Saturday Morning cartoon vibe.

i ordered X for £5 couple days back. hoping to play it soon Shauna and Matt make it look awesome.
