I'm still waiting for my Super Mario RPG option on the poll.

Paper Mario wasn't on the SNES. Silly Pikebot.

You seem to be implying that I played Paper Mario.

I assumed you had good taste

I'd say Chrono Trigger takes it as it is a better rounded package than VI overall.

I forget which one I voted for, it's unfair putting a trilogy against one game because the three FFs had something different for everybody. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more or less an even split between the three of them on this forum. For me, it's rough to say whether I personally enjoyed FFV or CT more but I would definitely say that from an objective standpoint, CT is the better game.

I mentioned this when Forsaken Lover made this thread but I would personally put Dragon Quest V and Tactics Ogre at the top of the best SNES RPGs, ahead of CT and FF - by a quite a lot.

    I'd say it goes FF6>CT>FF4>FF5

I never really saw what was so remarkable about Chrono Trigger. Maybe it was because I didn't play until the DS version.
While I admired how well it'd been put together as a multi-branched story, I never really identified with any of the characters and the story was fairly traditional.
FF6 on the other hand had a lot of great characters and also a much more gripping story. The whole end-of-the-world thing was done brilliantly and I loved how the pacing and structure of the game adapted to the plot (very linear and structured until the midpoint but then open and messy afterwards)

I enjoy CT a significant bit less than FF IV, V, and VI.

    CT, of course.
