85. Soul Calibur II (PlayStation 2)

It's a fighting game and I've never cared about the stories in these. I think it's about an evil sword. There's a good sword too, I think. I don't know. I just beat stuff up.

Soul Calibur is a fighting game, so you get in to fights and beat other people up. Characters also have different types of weapons. For this game, pressing triangle will execute a vertical strike, square a horizontal, O will do a kick, and X will guard. Pressing the buttons in different orders at different times will result in combos (which you can see and learn in each characters command menu). Aside from the usual fighting game modes like arcade, time attack, etc, there's also a “mission” type mode where you move along tiles on a map and fulfill certain conditions in each corresponding area.

This was my first Soul Calibur games, and I had a lot of fun playing it! I liked the aspect of using weapons, which is something I wasn't familiar with after being a Tekken fan (except for that cheating Yoshimitsu!) so that was pretty unique to me. I also liked the creative levels, like bouncing people off of things or fighting in heavy winds. It had a great character selection and some beautiful levels as well.

Favourite character: Talim gAHOnYC.jpg
Honourable mentions: Xianghua, Seung Mina, Sophitia XAUeMKl.jpgUzKIS94.jpgdSC5UaF.jpg

Talim is my favourite fighting game character to use ever. She's quick and he moves combine really well. I essentially suck at fighting games (and all games) but she's really easy to use and I can use her well. More importantly, she's fun to use. Xianghua is my second favourite to use and I got pretty good at her. I like Seung Mina and Sophitia a good bit as well, although not quite as much.

Tomorrow we get 3 more entries, including the first RPG and Final Fantasy on this list !
