I think their voices killed it for me. Yuna might not have fared better with a different voice, though, as I've seen characters similar to her (Terra) and I disliked them as well... although it's really tough to compare characters throughout different games and credit where it's due, Yuna didn't run away and try to hide from being a heroine like Terra did.
