Are you still thinking you're going to cut it down to like... 16 entries? Because I hope this one drags out a little longer, I like the idea of cutting it to about 50-70 (can be multiple choice at this stage still) and then having to make a lot of hard decisions on the way to a final.

At this point I'm struggling to normalise the votes while maintaining the obvious outliers. Case in point: To Zanarkand in the first poll, which outperforms every other song in every other poll. Problem is, Poll 1 had 18 voters and most have only 12, so when I normalise the votes it does pretty poorly, which is a bad outcome.
I've got a week to work on it still, though. Maybe I'll have to extend the field a bit!
I suggest going by percentages instead of quantity of votes.

Then the polls which had a lower turnout (which I personally correlate with lower interest in that particular round's offerings) get higher representation! Bad outcome!
This is serious business!
I don't think it's to do with them not having any interest in any of the songs, more to do with people being lazy and participating less as rounds go on. This is a normal thing with these sort of events. You could of course try an "and/or" thing, where either x many votes OR x percentage means they qualify.

I think I've solved my problem. I'm going to invert the votes - ie subtract how many votes each track has from the total voters. That should solve my issue - popular songs get lower scores (good) and it doesn't matter how many people voted.
Here we go, the competition bracket is up! First thread up in an hour or so.

So many eliminations! Shame to see classics such as Liberi Fatali and the Chocobo & FF Themes cut out, but I guess the standard of music is just that damned high.
