Default Final Symphony: Uematsu and the London Symphony Orchestra

"Today, we've managed to get our hands on a trailer showing some of the songs that'll be included on the finished Final Symphony album ahead of its release on February 23. You can check it out above, along with some thoughts from Uematsu on what it felt like to work with his older titles once more, and with the London Symphony Orchestra. The album clocks in at just over 94 minutes and brings together work from Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X in new arrangements."

    YES FINALLY OH MY GOD

I went to the performance of this live at the Barbican. It was incredible. I love Distant Worlds, don't get me wrong, but I've been desperate for them to release a recorded version of the pieces from Final Symphony. It's so much grander and more interesting than Distant Worlds, even if the arrangements aren't quite so true to the source material. I assume it's the same arrangements as it was in the concert - certainly sounds very much like what I heard. You will cry when the Interrupted by Fireworks melody comes in, I guarantee it. And many more times as well.

Oh wow, turns out I'm more excited for this than XV! When's it out... February 23rd... in 4 days!! Aaaah!

Uematsu is exceptionally modest. Sure, some of his melodies may be seen as simplistic in the eyes of 'musical connoisseurs', but he describes his music and I'm briefly paraphrasing as

Like a child that isn't that talented, but has still grown into a fine gentleman.

Personally, I don't think there is any question of the innate talent of this child. Such a nice man.

Yeah I like that about him as well, very humble

I tried listening to this particular symphony while working yesterday and I just couldn't work, the entire piece hit me like a truck, damn...

I really like how they blend the different songs, as opposed to simply playing them straight. I felt the symphony really encompassed the whole story of VII. Here is a link to the whole Final Symphony playlist (bootleg quality, for now):

Instantly buying this as soon as it is out.

Any talk of a CD release? I don't generally buy digital music unless it is uncompressed.

I have heard mutterings of such things later in the year, but nothing concrete.

By uncompressed you mean FLAC? The songs you get from the iTunes store are all ACC (.m4a) files at a 256kbps bit rate. I heard it with headphones at work and really have no complains about the audio, will try it later on a 5.1 speaker system.

Also yeah, the CD is probably coming out later.

FLAC generally speaking I suppose. The New World release was available in 24-bit as well, which is just why I wondered. If they are planning to release it in 24-bit, then I'll buy it digitally, otherwise I'll just wait till the CD is released as it will at least be red book standard. Best bang for buck or whatnot! Plus my hands like boxes...shiny.
