    Moomba Good pet names!

Denmark and I are going to be adopting a dog in a few weeks. It will be a shelter dog, but we might change the name depending on if it's dumb or not.

So far we've come up with these alternative names:

    Girls: Luna, Eowyn, Nymeria
    Boys: Aragorn, Hodor

What are some names that you like for pets? Which of these names do you like best?

My bf is dead set on naming our future Newfoundland Hodor. >.>

Name it Bill Murray for a boy

Name it Tina Fey for a girl. Or.. You know. Daenerys or Blake Lively.

I rename all of my shelter animals. That said, I find it really hard to just generate names. I like to customize them to the pet in question. Tell me what type of dog, or better yet, show a picture or vid, and I can give it a spiffy name.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.

He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.

In all seriousness, you do need a couple of days to see how the dog's personality is and go from there.

That's typically how my family has always named dogs whether they were rescues or bought from a breeder.

You just need to pick your dog, get him or her home, give it a few days to acclimate to your household and its new environment and really see its true personality before you name it.

I agree with Skyblade, I'm not good at coming up with names until I have some interaction with the thing I'm trying to name!

I tend to go for mythical figure names and demon names. I've thought of a name for my next kitty to be Zorya/Zori, and my next puppy will be the exception to the mythical figures as Bane

I also would be open to star/constellation names because I think they are lovely.

I'd really have to see and interact with the pet before the name ideas start coming to me.

Currently our two cats are named Martin and Lawrence.

I really thought Martin was going to be a Simon, but it just wasn't the right name after we got to know him.

Luna is the best out of those choices imo. Stick with one or two syllable names.
