Character Tournament, which would you like to see?

I'm going to be doing a video game character tournament for myself, just as a little fun project, and I was wondering which of these three options would be the best/most interesting/most fun way to go!

Note that only my favourite characters from each game will be used. It will be between 2 and 4 characters per game. So when I say characters, I mean my favourites, not every character from the game

Option 1: Random Drawing
Put all names in a hat, pick them out and make brackets

Option 2: By game
Start by doing brackets within each game until left with only 1 character per game. Then I can go by series until 1 is left per series. And then do a random drawing with the winners

Option 3: By group
Have different groups such as archer characters, characters from fighting games, black mage type characters, animal characters, etc. Do brackets until 1 is left in each group and then do a random drawing with the winners

I like option 2 the most; it's like doing regionals into nationals. Fight it out amongst yourselves before the big tournament!

I like option 3 because it's something you really don't see done normally. I'm curious how that will play out.

I'm personally against Option 2 because it's skewed against games that have multiple/many great characters. Option 3 sounds pretty neat, and probably makes direct comparisons that much easier - and to me it makes more sense to crop the not-so-good characters of the same kind rather than from the same game.

Well like I said, each game is going to have only 2 to 4 characters! But option 3 would certainly be interesting. There aren't really any not good characters to me though or they wouldnt be in the tournament!

I don't mind the voting thing but it is hard to get participation with this stuff so I won't bother if no one is interested

Well I should note that it'll still be a little while, but I already have 140+ character so I'm getting prepared ahead of time with intros and pics for them and stuff. But I want to finish my backlog before I put it up in case I have more characters to add!

I also wasn't expecting no one to go for Option 1!
