Let's say we're at Robert's death, and men and bannermen alike are popping up all over. This is an untold future, no one's outcomes are fixed! Whose side do you choose?
Robb Stark
Renly Baratheon
Stannis Baratheon
Joffrey Baratheon
Danaerys Targaryen
Balon Greyjoy
I do what's best for the realm!

The King in the North obviously. I don't hail from Minnesota and not have loyalty to other people who enjoy freezing half to death.
Oops added poll option late!
Well, now that I know that it's based off knowledge, I totally smurfing regret choosing Rob. I'm pretty sure I just died by (SPOILER)flaming tent
Nope, we are talking an alternate reality in which we do not know the outcome of the battle of the kings!
Then I'm sticking King in the North.
This is hard. I'd obviously want to raise arms for the house I thought was most likely to win. I could go with the most honorable or whatever, but that's just going to get me killed if someone else takes the throne. Disregarding the show and books at this point and just considering the world at the time of Robert's death, it's still hard to say based on the choices there. Joffrey is a despicable person, but the Lannisters are a powerful house. Joffrey is just a kid, and I would probably think that Tywin is the one pulling all of the strings. He's not the best of people either, but none of the options feel particularly good. I feel like fighting for him would lead to a more sure victory in my mind. It's hard to say if the realm would be better for it in the end, but there would be a good chance (in my mind) that my life would be more secure when all is said and done.
Rob Stark would also be a good candidate as he is mostly away from the King's Landing nonsense, focusing more on the North. I could probably think that if I rode with him, I'd at least get some sense of security away from the rest of the battles, but there would still be battles in claiming that King of the North title. I also don't know if I'd do as well in that terrain. I dunno. I still think I'd side with Joffrey (meaning more the Lannisters and not him really), but Rob would be good if I could know for sure I could just stay away from it all.
Stannis the god damn Mannis 11 times out of 10. I am a true man and I declare my loyalty.
