In theory I would like Presea better. She has lots of awkward moments with Genis, she's a small woman with a big weapon that does big damage, and she has an interesting story.
Even though Lloyd's story might be a bit more typical, I just like him better though. He seems pretty genuine, and I liked how they wrote for him. He feels like a combination of Zidane and Adol. At least kinda.

Lloyd! Presea just did not seem very interesting to me in the slightest.
Unfortunately, I haven't played Symphonia in such a long time that I don't really recall either character very well. I prefer Abyss. Jade Curtiss vs. Tear Grants, please.

Final Fantasy VIII
VS
Most of you have played this game considering it is a Final Fantasy forum, but some general info:
Squall and Selphie are both mercenaries for a group known as SeeD. It serves as a school as well. Basically people hire SeeD to do things for them, militaristic type things in a lot of cases, and SeeD dispatches its teens and young adults to get the job done, because if you're over 30 in an RPG, you might as well be retired.
Selphie is a perky, upbeat transfer student who came from another SeeD Garden, and she takes over the Garden Festival Committe, which basically takes care of festivals and events in the Garden because these trained mercenaries are still pretty young. She really likes trains, she's generally pretty nice, but occasionally she'll say some really violent stuff and she can get a bit weird.
Squall is the dude with lost of talent and a bad attitude and he quickly moves up the ranks. The game revolves around him and the process of him learning to open up to people and stop being so closed off and cold to others. He starts off the game as a pretty big jerk but he opens up a lot and shows that he cares about his friends in his own way.

Selphie Tilmitt for me. She's the sweet, upbeat girl who might have bodies of victims hidden somewhere. That's always entertaining.
