Been chatting with Fynn about video game music and I was curious to know which composers get the most love from EoFF.

True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
There's the SE trio that I adore to bits: Shimomura, Hamauzu and Uematsu. Yasunori Mitsuda is also great. Also, lately I've been listening to the Xenoblade X Soundtrack, and I must say, Yoshiyuki Sawano is a phenomenal composer. Despite not having played the game yet, Sawano quickly rose to my roster of favorite composers.
And how could I forget Revo? The Bravely Default OST was nothing short of perfect.
Uematsu is and always has been my favorite, but ZTS and dai are up there as well.
Geez I totally forgot about Jun Maeda. Second only to Uematsu.

Yasunori Mitsuda and Motoi Sakuraba.
Mitsuda brought us Chrono Cross and Xenogears.
Sakuraba brought us Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean, Baten Kaitos and Golden Sun. Also A LOT of other games, including Tales, but those first four are his main accomplishments.
Seriously, GO PLAY BATEN KAITOS.
(SPOILER)
And it has the best "normal battle" theme ever.

Mitsuda is my favorite. Followed Miki Higashino, Michiru Yamane, Nobuo Uematsu, Koichi Sugiyama, and Noriyuki Iwadare.
Miki Higashino (Mainly known for Suikoden, probably my single favorite, even including the others on this list who I absolutely smurfing adore. If I was Emperor of Earth I would have her compose our anthem and marching themes.)

Yoshino Aoki and Akari Kaidi (BoF games never have shortcomings in their music but BoF 3 has basically one of the best OSTs ever and I could link pretty much every single song in the game oh my god)

Alexander Brandon, Michiel van den Bos and Dan Gardopee because they were responsible for the Deus Ex soundtrack which is essentially perfect from start to finish

edit; I overlooked them at first but basically everyone at Blizzard does some great work, and always has;

First and foremost would be the guys at Blizzard; there are too many of them to list but Derek Duke, Glenn Stafford, Jason Hayes and Russell Brower are the main ones. Especially Russel Brower.
In a close second is Jeremy Soule who also did some music for Blizz at one point so it works out![]()
Jack Wall for Mass Effect 2
The couple of guys who did the early Shining games as well as Land Stalker
The guy who did Shadow of the Colossus
The guy who did Beyond Good and Evil
The people behind The Longest Journey
Trying to think of other soundtracks I just had to have. I'm on my phone or I'd be more specific
Yuki Kajiura has made the songs I listen to the most. Or maybe Akira Yamaoka. I don't know. One of them.
So I was thinking I'd come in here and say "that Morrowind guy" but apparently he's already been mentioned. (just googled him right now)
Playing Morrowind for the first time right now and holy trout.
Other favorites of mine though are:
Inon Zur (Dragon Age Origins and DA2, Fallout 3 and New Vegas)
Norman Corbeil (Heavy Rain, also RIP)
Motoi Sakuraba.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.
He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.
I left out Andreas Waldetoft.
I had no idea solar fields made the mirror's edge soundtrack. I listen to solar fields pretty often <,<
As for my favourite game composers, I think I'll stick to people who almost exclusively make soundtracks, I guess.
Motoi Sakuraba, Nobuo Uematsu, I'd list Jack Wall perhaps but I have actually no idea which of the mass effect tracks were made by him and which were not. There's a lot of new composers in recent games that I like, but I don't feel like I recognize them as having a consistent high quality yet.
That reminds me. Time to put "uncharted worlds" on repeat for a few hours.
