Default But the green lady should have kept her white magic!

Let's say that for whatever reason, you had the option to keep Rydia with white magic.

If you take this route, the game weakens the use of black magic, and you don't learn as much of it. The summons are untouched. However, Rosa still learns high curing and status based spells while Rydia would get better versions of what would eventually be time magic.

Would you do it, or leave it how the game actually is?

Probably stick to the original. Summons are costly and unlike the later installments, the summons can't do the same damage as high magic, so Ifrit is a poor substitute for a good old Firaga (hell Fira) in IV. IV was pretty balanced to make Rydia alternate between using Black and Summon magic throughout the game, so I don't necessarily want to see her gimp her offensive ability to do some stuff that Rosa and Cecil could cover.

I would rather have Cecil retain his spell list from the DS version honestly than change Rydia around.

Yes, should have kept the white magic. Nowadays anything related to black is deemed racist. So gotto play safe.
