I've never played Yu-Gi-Oh, but my goodness the names are hilarious!

"Go, Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon!"

"Attack, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"

Is there an explanation for the odd names, or should I just assume 'anime' as an answer?
