Nah I just play how I would normally, guideless, and see where it takes me. Then I can try for the "perfect" ending the next time

Leliana was my first romance in DA, too! The Romance just plain won't start until a certain point, I forgetwhen.

I am currently in Redcliffe and I have opted to run to the Tower of Magi. We'll see if it was the wrong decision
This part hasn't had me as excited as the elf part. It's been kind of average. Although I am beginning to feel like an emotionally abusive partner because Leliana didn't like something I did so I gave her a present and she was happy

That's the biggest problem with Origins's approval system. The easiest way to get Oghren to like you, for example, is to just buy him loads of mead. Yay, I'm enabling your obvious drinking problem! GO FRIENDSHIP!!!
They fix it in 2 and Inquisition. 2 has a really small number of gifts you can get for people - one or two per person, if I remember rightly - and Inquisition doesn't have any.
Origins gets a load of love, but it does show age. I enjoyed it, and I'll probably replay it again, but it does have flaws.
Dragon Age is best appreciated as a series, as opposed to viewing each game independently. It's the religious commentary I like the most.
Evil child is saved and the King is in a coma so now I have to go get an urn full of ashes which are, apparently, sacred.
