Everyone in mae wlad fy nhadau is of course freaking out about Gareth Bale AFC qualifying for Euro 2016 and bringing glory after 57 years of hurt etc but I can't help feeling it is a bit of an empty victory. People either forget or are unaware that the only reason we have qualified is because of UEFA's daft decision to increase the participant nations to 24. I mean finishing second in the group is still a great achievement after the last 20 years of guff but it would normally mean we would advance to a playoff against stronger opposition who we would more than likely lose to. I don't know about you guys but I've watched pretty much every minute of Wales' qualifying games and to say we are blunt up front would be an understatement of immense proportions. Bale can only offer so many moments of magic to bring us the 1-0 win.

That said, I don't think even the most deluded Wales fan honestly thinks we have a chance of getting anywhere in the tournament, we're just going to enjoy the experience. I'm still going to try and get hold of tickets, and have been brushing up on my 'mange tout's and 'bonnet de douche's in anticipation
