Even the insidious root word implies a disconcerting focus on society, societal development and support, and generally creating policies that would benefit the quality of life for citizens.

Unfortunately, every national government ever to label themselves "socialists" has been the exact opposite, a complete nightmare with anything but benefiting the quality of life of its citizens as its preoccupation, and thus ruined the word forever in the western world. Cuba is probably the most popular remaining "socialist" nation, and well...that makes it just a little disconcerting to some people when they hear talk of socialism and socialists, much less a presidential candidate proudly proclaiming himself to be one.

Not that I'm dissing Sanders or anything. Just saying.
