Adding to the advise of others - go to a bar and have the bartender make you something. If they're good at their job, they will know their liquors and what works well with what mixers. They will be able to make you something to your preferred taste. Tell them sweet or not sweet, dry or not dry, heavy or light. They will be able to make it for you.
