I'm currently close to finishing "Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman" by Robert K. Massie. Excellent chronicle of Catherine's life and exploits.
Before that, I read "Elizabeth I and the Men Who Loved Her" by Robert Stephen Parry. I'm acquainted with the author, and he gave it to me to review. I enjoyed it, and it's a great launching point for anyone who wants to know more about Elizabeth I.
In addition to those, I've spent the last couple months with my nose buried in various sources on Crown Jewels, tiaras, and other royal jewelry pieces for a month-long series I did on my blog's FB page.
