Default Spooky Scary FF Forest Levels

    Spooky Scary Forest Levels

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Or not so spooky. Sometimes it just involves trees. But trees can be scary, right? So tall and arrogant. And getting lost can be scary, especially if you're stuck with someone like Amarant or... or Amarant. So in early celebration of Halloween, let's take a look at some (not so) spooky Final Fantasy Forest levels!

Final Fantasy V - The Great Forest of Moore

The sentient forest located on Galuf's world (SPOILER ALERT) that like... gets set on fire and stuff. OoOoOoOoooooO!!!! More notably, a certain tree was there that had evil sealed within it and then went on to commit mass murder. Which I suppose is a bit scarier than the whole set on fire thing. I probably should have opened with that. Oh yeah, and that tree was ExDeath. The End.

Final Fantasy VI - The Phantom Forest

This forest is home to a nice train stop. It's usually foggy in there, making it a good place to cool down and hang out in the warm summer months. It also contains a recovery spring if you need some extra healing. Oh, also, it is the train stop for the Phantom Train that carries the dead to the afterlife. Should I have led with that one? Dang it, I'll get better at this.

What are those threes AND a train?
My heart can't take this for much longer.

Final Fantasy VII - Sleeping Forest and Ancient Forest

So the Sleeping Forest is where Cloud has his weird Aeris/th dream and you need to find a Harp and Bone Village and then you go there and then you go to other places and then Aeris/th dies and stuff. It's a moment. And The Ancient Forest is somewhere I have never been, but I'm told it's like a large logic puzzle and I can't think of too much scarier than that.

Final Fantasy IX - Evil Forest

So this one actually has kind of a scary name. Your party crash lands there and the plant life pretty much tries to kill you. Fire is about as effective as you'd expect it to be. It commits several crimes, such as kidnapping, attempted murder, and poisoning. Also when you kill the head plant honcho it doesn't take it well and petrifies the whole forest along with your friend. The one with the weird stitched-up body. But other than that it's a pretty cool forest.

It's even called Evil Forest. What more do you want?

Final Fantasy X - Macalania Woods

A forest made of crystal or something and you fight these giant gelatinous blob things I guess. It leads to Macalania Lake where you get to ride snowmobiles. It leads to Bevelle and the Calm Lands also. It's also the home of several groups of people that may or may not go extinct in Final Fantasy X-2. I guess the scariest part is the 5 Star difficulty rating it gets in FFX-2. Those gel blobs will destroy you if you go in unprepared.

Fear the cheesiest love scene of all!

Final Fantasy XII - A Bunch of Stuff

Final Fantasy XII is this crazy world that houses more than one forest. It's quite unbelievable, but I guess it's a video game, so I can let it slide. There's that forest with the mini malboros and the Viera's who are quite cold in their disposition. Both very scary things. There's the Salikawood which is actually very pretty and I guess kind of spooky if you're afraid of trees and stuff. Which you just might be after the ExDeath incident. The Feywood for a while there has some pretty thick fog (or mist, I guess) which, as we all know, is the spookiest weather condition.

Okay that... that actually is kind of scary.

    Final Fantasy XIII

Has something probably but it's not like you can explore it or care anyway.

Final Fantasy XIV - Gridania and Surrounding Forest

This is actually a very large, sprawling forest with some beautiful areas and streams and a pretty nice looking town. I'd live there.

Be afraid, for it could be you stuck exploring this beautiful scenery!!!

I feel like that was a strong finish to my article. What were your favourite (not so) spooky scary forests in Final Fantasy?

Final Fantasy XII has some great forests/Jungles. The Salikawood fits this type of season because of all the Pumpkin Heads.

There's the concrete jungle, a.k.a Midgar.

    Those streets are dangerous.

Best spooky scary forest was the Forest Maze in SMRPG! (that's close enough to FF, right?)

Forest of moore in Ff V-2 is the scariest. Because Galufs ghost haunts it causing mayhem for the heros. However the segment ends with a heart wrenching fight against Galufs corrupted Ghost.

I wasn't the least bit scared by the Phantom Forest.

Evil Forest is the only one that sticks out to me.
